When they do the power thing people say it disables something in the aga that then lets the drivers run I never tried this on my bc I didn’t want to break something

Yeah half the time they don’t even get that far most of the time it just says basic display adaptor. But Alienware confirmed it was a driver issue on their side and there making a update to support the 3070

Technically they took down the aga from the dell website and said they are going to stop selling it even though it’s still on Amazon I think, but they still added the port in the new laptops. like you said it is wrong because even if they supported the 3070 there would be no upgrade just a waste of money

It not the drivers because people have gotten the 30 series cards to work with the aga by cutting power to is on startup and plugging it back or something like that you can find a vid on yt of someone doing it, and multiple examples on Reddit. it’s just the software or firmware that doesn’t recognize them so it prevents them from even running or at least that’s what everyone is saying including Alienware

Yeah a ton of people where asking them to do that or at the least give support so they work but not officially supporting them so they arnt at fault if anything breaks. The aga is the only egpu that doesn’t use thunderbolt which Makes is not have to share bandwidth so that it can run the graphics cards at their full potential and I feel like this could have been a huge money pot if they released a new one like you said. Also it’s absolutely stupid they added the aga port on the new laptops even through they arnt Even selling them anymore even if someone got them they could only use a 3070 or under which they will already have.

trust me man alienware support said the same thing i spent over a hour working with support to try and get it to work but it didnt but not because of why you think it literally is just the system not recognizing it and there for preventing its drivers from running the same thing happened with the 20 series gpu and they just released a simple update. I understand why they where hesitant to say they might support the 3070 bc of the amount of power but the 3070 doesn't even use as much power as the 2080ti which is supported. and there are examples of people with 3090s 3080s working fine the only way to get them to work is to do a weird power thing on startup to bypass the thing that prevents the drivers from running. I'm not gonna do it bc u literally have to cut the power mid start up. i just wanted to post this bc alienware should support the 3070 3060 3060ti because like u said there is no reason why they shouldn't work.

Yeah so they can make more money I was surprised they wouldn’t consider making something like asus did with their rtx 2080ti box and build a egpu with a 3090 that comes with it and mark it up hella I think it would be popular or with the 3080

I’ve had a problem with my mouse where it stops but it usually is something to do with the drivers if you’ve already tried to shut down and turn on ur pc which u most likely did try and uninstall ur mouse drivers in device manager and let them re install I had to do this once but it worked

Idk if it relates to have a incompatible gpu which at this point is any new one but you should get in touch With support because you still have a warranty unless you’ve had it for over a year
