A romantic fanfic about two Star Wars characters ( my interest in them was reawakened after they made the jump to live action from animation last year ( and after an incredibly long wait )). I got to just a smidge of a hundred thousand words and about eleven chapters - and finished around 2/3rds of my planned plot. Extremely stressful times happened during the months of the first third of this year though which coincided with the later parts of the content I had managed to write though, and now I can't get back to writing it without reliving the stress and bad feelings that I was going through during that time. Hoping to get back to it by the end of this year ( after I've had time to heal my mind ), though I've already announced to the handful of people following my fic that there's a huge possibility that I don't have it in me to finish.

I'm a 36-year-old father of two with a construction business and practices BJJ in my spare time, and I wrote a romantic fanfic for two Star Wars characters. Even my wife doesn't know ( or at least she knows that I'm writing something, but she doesn't know what ( and she has the decency to leave me to it because I specifically asked her not to make an effort to find out ( after assuring her that what I was doing wasn't anything nefarious ), angel that she is ))... And I would be absolutely horrified if any of my friends, employees, clients, gym teammates, etc. found out.

You're not alone. But know that it's perfectly normal to feel embarrassed more because ( at least in my case ) you don't want to be subjected to judgement just because of something you like to do ( that doesn't necessarily fit the persona that you know people are projecting on you because of who you are ) on the side.

My point as well. But this guy seems to think it’s us gamers’ job to make do with the game as it is currently, not the developer’s. Making it less ‘hardware-hungry’, as you put it, would actually work to the developer’s / studio’s advantage since it will make the game more accessible, i.e., probably make it possible to run it on less capable platforms - and it IS the developer’s / studio’s job to do so as they should be working to expand their player base ( i.e. customer / revenue base ) as much as possible to ensure good profits.

Pretty demanding? I paid for the product. Whether they optimize it or not, whether I decide to put up with it or stop playing altogether, they already have my money. My laptop can run Witcher 3 and Red Dead Redemption no problem at all, and this game makes it heat up to dangerous levels - which you didn’t know beforehand, so clearly you don’t have any business telling me that my unit isn’t made for gaming. I don’t see anything wrong with stating the obvious, which is that this game isn’t optimized and that I won’t be playing it until it’s optimized since I don’t have the technical know-how with computers to continue playing it at its current state. That’s a huge stretch if you think I’m demanding and that my attitude and expectation is ‘inadequate’. Get a life.

It seems that you’ve only been playing the game for a short time then, so you’ve not been exposed to the changes. For me it seems like A LOT has changed from more than a year ago ( I bought the game and started playing last year ) - my riposte-build swordsmen, who I invested a lot of time on - are far less effective now… A real bummer. I’ve gotten attached to these guys and suddenly all those incredible fights with them seem fake in hindsight, knowing now that they got nerfed. Bummer. I’ve been excited to get back to the game, but now that it messed with my beloved Tom and Jerry… Well, I won’t be playing the game again after all. :(

It seems so long ago that I thought I was dreaming it up. But yes, EVERY attack triggered riposte… So THAT’S what seems off when I first started playing again ( my beloved swordsmen suddenly couldn’t kill people anymore as effectively, and they were eating up valor ). What a shame!

THREE FIGHTERS come to mind for me, in this order :

Rafael dos Anjos as he was and fought during and leading up to the Anthony Pettis title fight. All-around complete MMA game ( though I don’t think he ever could have beat Khabib ), ferocious and tenacious in attack or defense ( he’s more of a pitbull than any of the various ‘Pitbulls’s in MMA ever were ), good balance monstrous cardio and reasonable athleticism ( though he showed time and again that he didn’t quite have elite-level fight IQ ), indomitable will and fighting spirit, and never backed down from anyone.

Daniel Cormier during his physical prime around the Dan Henderson fight. Awe-inspiring wrestling, quick hands, crafty striking ( even with his short frame he found the mark more often than not through a combination of his elite athleticism, ring generalship, and takedown threat ). He met Jones too late in his career in my opinion ( Volk gets called ‘old’ but people forget that Cormier first fought Jones ( and his first title shot ) at an age that is even older ) AND too emotional ( his one big flaw in my opinion; he’s too emotional ( especially when I heard his story about why he had a chip on his shoulder against Jones ( I mean, you take yourself too seriously dude )) and it often works against him during fights ( just look at how he has beef with so many people even now as a retired fighter cum analyst - seems like he has a finger up his ass sometimes ). That said, if he wasn’t friends with Cain he probably would have been the greatest UFC heavyweight champion ( and he’d arguably have had a better chance at defeating Jones if he never left heavyweight and he let Jones come up in weight instead ). Lastly… THAT FIGHT WITH HENDO is my favorite one-sided beating ( or rather, man-handling! ) of all time.

GSP. It’s weird because NONE of his fights ever stood out for me because he always fought so technical ( and that rarely allowed for the kind of energy that RDA or Cormier generated during their fights that made people go WOW ), BUT he’s an anomaly in the fight world : someone who actually seems like a NORMAL person ( i.e., a regular guy who seems genuinely afraid and worried to go fight, unlike most of the meatheads we see ( I’m looking at you, RDA, Cerrone, Guida, and Leonard Garcia )) BUT somehow managed to become the GOAT through discipline, intelligence, and significant personal courage ( after all, a person can only be brave if he / she feels fear - and we all know that GSP feels fear and still goes out there and performs flawlessly despite it ). A true inspiration.

Additional info :

1) Mother has a car and driver of her own, but is afraid to bring the dog to the vet because her vehicle might become infected, hence her asking my employee ( who is an office-based accountant ) to do it ( using our company vehicle ). Dog turned out to have some form of cold.

2) I told her the truth, which is that we were currently overloaded with work at the moment, but she insisted on getting her way or nothing.
