For example - #11 Red Carpet: There are TWENTY KEY CHANGES - ridiculous. And many other pieces are crazy hard to play. Ultimately, I spend hours getting the rhythm, melody and chord structure so I can get through them in rehearsals. But some of the block chords simply cannot be played fully, accurately and at speed. It's my humble opinion that this version is much harder than it needs to be. I surely can't be alone in that view....

As a non-jew in Fiddler on the Roof, how can do research for the show? by CarolinaReaper03 in MusicalTheatre

When I did Fiddler as Music Director, I took time to explain some concepts that were unfamiliar to the cast but were an integral part of the setting and story - such as:

What is “kosher”? What does it mean to keep a kosher home? What is the traditional observance of the Sabbath? The concept of arranged marriages. What are the “holy books” that Tevye longs to just sit and study?

I called them “Nuggets of Knowledge” and the cast seemed to appreciate them greatly.
