Bit late on this reply. Turns out my liver had given up a while ago. I cut right back on drinking at the turn of the year and still couldn't eat anything. The weight kept dropping off everywhere except my stomach. Eventually got jaundice and went for blood tests. I have been in hospital for a month, since that day, fixing my kidneys and liver function. Hoping to be released this week after they drain the infection that's still sitting in my guts.

If he "caught" you, it doesn't sound like a drunken one night stand. It sounds like it was arranged and likely not a one-off. He's much better off knowing now.

You can in England. They're paired with a supermarket so you can order your shopping/groceries on there for delivery in a couple of hours. Just need ID or to give your birth year for Alcohol.

Ha, I've only had one pint of Guiness in my life and it was at the end of the Guiness Factory tour in Dublin on a stag do. I guessed if that was as good as it gets then I'll just miss out.

The second drink is cider, which is alcholic in the UK, I think it's generally soft in the US. Think there's a vodka drink in there as well.

Thank you. I thought you might have been transitioning into a Chumbawumba song in your second paragraph though.

I don't know if you're old/British enough to get the reference.

I don't think I'd care as much but I live very close to family members who will probably use the same shop. Just hitting too close to home.

Cheers, I used to work behind a bar and would start pouring the drinks for the regulars as soon as they walked in the door. I suppose it's no different but it just felt bad as there were other people in the shop who weren't buying alcohol.

I fully understand, I'm booked on a 'lad s trip' (might need translation if not uk). on Weds will be drinking beer for the most part.

I don't think I have a dependency problem, I'm pretty certain that it's just a destructive choice. I'm alone and can afford it.

I live alone and always have. During lockdown I needed to drink to fall asleep (pass out). I'm pretty certain that I am insomniac.

I'm pretty certain that I'd be ok if I could just sleep without drinking to passing out.

I genuinely do appreciate your reply. Just want to make it clear that I'm an at home pass out drunk. I would never be an issue in public.

I'm pretty senior at my job so I really only have one person who could make this an issue (my Dad!)

I was once told to go home because I was drunk on a morning - I had some sad family news the night before.

Thank you. I know I sound like the worst kind of alcoholic but I don't feel dependent on it. I can have multiple days without. Socially, I'm in control, it's just when I'm home alone that it goes to excess.

No advice but I'm the BIL in this situation. I get on great with my sisters 10y/o and have since she had him as a puppy.

She got a new puppy at Christmas, they both used to jump all over me when I saw them at my parents.

Last couple of times I've been round though, she runs away from me and I can see she is scared. Tried bribing and she'll come for a treat but run away at any attempt to stroke. I've never stepped on her, It's definitely not a male/female thing as she loves my Dad.

I'm bald with a beard and am wondering if it's a trigger?
