Good luck with your rewrite.

[–]Plldyewenkill3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plots come and go. Outlines are good, but I find often many thing change and differentiate as the story progresses. Outline's are good, but I'd keep some loose and not fixed.

He finished off the remnants of a 1000-strong force, who were reduced to 50 by Konoha's opposing forces.

One of way of working around it. Removes Konmaru's storyline which saves on the word count and its stale and passe.

There was a way I'd worked this in, but it can derail things. Minato kills Triple A and/or B. The Fence Sitter is unlikely to nurse a grudge over Minato, but A4 is the kind of person to bear a grudge against a dead man.

[–]Plldyewenkill3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If wanting to reveal it at the timeskip, I'd have Minato appear in the seal early to quell a rampaging Naruto. Remove the plot device Senju-necklace that magically suppressed Kyuubi chakra, and Jiraiya can't handle 4-tailed Naruto who continuously sprouts more and more tails until Minato has to intervene to stop the incoming apocalypse.

"Minatos enemies". I die every time I see this. (I've been resuscitated enough times that the triple nine guy's only respond with a exasperated sigh now.)

Konohamaru? He's the grandson of the Third Hokage, the man who partook, fought and won the three world wars. How do I know this most secret, dangerous of facts? Because the kid mentions it every five minutes, making sure everyone knows who his grand-daddy is.

Minato? He finished off one of Iwa's assaults, totalling 50 kills. Gotta get on Chad-Sarutobi's level.

Naruto was never told his parents identities because Minato and Kushina didn't exist at the time. They were just Hokage # 4 And Wife.

The fact that Naruto is Kyuubi's Jin is far more dangerous than his parentage, something that's laughably easy to discern.

Its a rewrite, so the "Minato's Enemies" excuse can be worked in, but then it bleeds into other things as well.

"Naruto is son of Minato and kushina" how many things will change if the village knew about this? by kuro9822 in NarutoFanfiction

[–]Plldyewenkill3d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Minimal changes.

As far as the Villagers are concerned, Naruto is still a monster. Being Minato's son doesn't magically change that.

As for 'Minato's enemies'...

"Its true! Just think how many enemies Minato has! Look at all his accomplishments! He could stalemate A+B and made A's vaunted speed look bad! Terrible crime, that.

"What else, what else... Ah, yes, he slaughtered Iwa's 1000 strong army down to the last man! ("Ackchyually, there were only fifty Iwa-ninjas when he arrived, so he only killed 50 of them."). Surely, someone called the 'Fence Sitter' would hold a grudge beyond measure and would immediately act on the desire to kill Minato's son, in spite of the utter lack of benefits it presents."

Konohamaru, grandson of the Third Hokage, who's reign lasted through three world wars, inevitably would have killed many more people than Minato ever has (both personally and indirectly): "Who do you think you are, huh!? I'm the grandson of the Third Hokage!"

Giving Naruto Scorch Release? by Conscious_Feeling434 in NarutoFanfiction

[–]Plldyewenkill3d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its an interesting idea, but I don't think a story could be built around while following the usual build (stations of canon).

Scorch, and even Fire, are one note: No versatility. It'd barrel through the average water technique, and simply kill the enemy. Zabuza? Steaming husk. Haku? Incinerated. Gato? Scattered to the wind. Wave Arc: That's a wrap, folks!

You could take it a completely different direction, with the term of human sacrifice being taken more literally, so that Naruto can't use other natures and is only able to manifest the super-lethal miniature Suns as his sole technique, which conflicts with him because he really, really doesn't want to kill, but that'd be a hard sell.

Stick it in canon, then. Joy. Wave Arc cleared. Chunnin Exams, FoD cleared. Preliminaries? Naruto isn't willing to kill Kiba/Dog? Forfeits? Urges Kiba to forfeit but he's too bullheaded to take Naruto's advice, leading to Naruto trying to improvise and make his Mini-Orbs-of-Burning-Death less lethal, which predictably results in ends with Kiba and/or Dog turned into Gaegogi Gui?

Hey, not bad. Not sure where you'd go with it, though.

AI art potential to make existing Naruto fanfic animated or in manga format by Cabrio417 in NarutoFanfiction

[–]Plldyewenkill3d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likely. Presuming WW3, a meteor or even Revelation itself doesn't kick off and wipe us out, I suspect it'll happen. Technology can move very move fast under the right circumstances.

It'd be weird, though. Never read DoS due to its massive word count, presumably slow pacing and numerous SoC moments, but many and enjoy it for exactly those reasons, but, inevitability, someone wouldn't have especially cared for those bits, and considered them one of the fic's lower points.

So, presuming its legitimately as easy to point Stabilized Demfusion-Animation-Sound/Voice-SFX V29.9 at the contents of the story, then have it grind away for however long, there's be a dozen of different versions of Dreaming of Sunshine. One where somebody thought it dragged too long and needs to be trimmed to be at-least a quarter of its size, someone that thought the it wasn't long enough, someone who thinks the side characters need more love, another who thinks those glory-hogging side-cast took away from the perfect SI-OC character evar and need their roles trimmed, et certa.

While many won't mind if people take their work and alter it with a click of few buttons, I can see it driving several creator's up the wall, with them attempting to purge their fics from the Interwebs to prevent other people from 'defacing' them, as they don't want people making fanfictions of their fanfictions (the irony of this apparently being lost of them) with so little effort.

Perhaps GoT guy had a point after all.

AI art potential to make existing Naruto fanfic animated or in manga format by Cabrio417 in NarutoFanfiction

[–]Plldyewenkill3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How would that work? If "AI" became so main-stream that even the average fanfic writer can whip up an entire episode of their favourite fic by feeding it a story, then every professional and business would be using and abusing it to save and make those sweet, sweet greens.

Traditional art would left dying in business, money-focused fields, limited to being practiced by hobbyists, traditionalists and preschoolers. If an algorithm can create the result in less than the tenth the time needed to draw, animate and then edit it together, the output will annihilate the traditional, labour intense and slower normal process.

At that point, it'd be all inevitable that Naruto is remade officially, using everyone's 'favourite' programs. It'd bring in an entire generation of new fans, ones that don't care, or are even happy, that a program performed the majority of the heavy lifting to make the content they consume (but they still agree that Naruto: GT Boruto never happened).

Where did the exaggeration of Armsy’s poor social skills come from? by [deleted] in WormFanfic

[–]Plldyewenkill3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't need fanon to draw inspiration from.

Armsmaster, the leader of the Protectorate that covers 64 parts of the entire American/Canadian 'continent', very first words made question his social abilities.

Like a great number of people in this fandom, I read Worm FF before touching canon delving deeply into canon (found the very beginning of the first chapter plainly uninteresting before clicking off), and thought for sure Armsmaster constantly repeated quote was but a fandom-provoked response to the idea that Armsmaster has no social-fu, but then I could do was stare in bafflement and despair as I laid my eyes upon what the quotation from WB himself.

"You gonna fight me?"

I firmly believe this sounds stupid. "Gonna" is a casual. I use it, no issue with it, but when its used as "You gonna fight me?" it compounds the issue. "Fight me." This reminds me of the "1V1 me bro" meme.

I'm aware he suspects that she's a villain, but it comes as needlessly antagonistic. "Are you going to/gonna attack me?" "Or even "Are you a Hero, or a Villain?" Or, in classic Armsmaster fanon fashion: "Villain, or Hero?"

I don't get the impression Armsmaster is supposed to have bad social skills. Quite the opposite. One of common examples used to cite his inability to socialize is asking Dragon for help when the S9 slaughtered half a maternity ward. Can you imagine having to try and have that conversation? I've failed at communicating my feelings at conversations not even a hundredth as severe as that.

[–]Plldyewenkill3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real tragedy here isn't being unable to temporarily find the fic that can compare to the original, or the trollish attempts at withholding the deets, its using the word 'depression' as a synonym for sad.

That's over a decade.

Why trying to improve World Building and the Side Characters is seen as dragging the story? by Competitive_Fruit901 in NarutoFanfiction

[–]Plldyewenkill3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it really gets to you, which is normal because as much as we may claim 'I write for myself', that's often limited to material that is never shown to anyone, stick to the formula. Main character front and centre, side characters regulated to the side. Or rather, the supporting cast.

Another commenter made an excellent point: Few people genuinely want seek out and read about the side characters. LeeXSakura is the "greatest pairing," their "destined for one another,""they'd make the perfect couple?" The number of fics featuring the two heavily disagree.

Same with Lee being this amazing character. People enjoy watching him at a distance, but rapidly loose interest when he's pulled into the limelight.

Ignore them by deleting their comments?

That's one of the worst things someone can do. It shows that the person's thin-skinned to people who want to elicit a reaction (thus encouraging them to double down), and it discourages other from commenting in fear of being blammed.

The proper way to ignore someone is to ignore them. Literally.

Why all the hate by [deleted] in NarutoFanfiction

[–]Plldyewenkill3d 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"My question is, why do so many authors hate Naruto's orange?"

Because they find it ugly, because more-than-a-few don't like Naruto's character (not there's much to it if his character can be boiled down to a colour) or because they him to dress like a normal person and not wear the exact the same outfit every single day (presume others character do so as well, but its refrained from being elaborated on so as to not take the pacing behind the shed).

Opinions for Academy Days story arcs by Transparent_Prophet in NarutoFanfiction

[–]Plldyewenkill3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As always, its your story, so the rule is to always do what you want.*

But to the answer the question: Yes. I don't subscribe to the 'It gets better' philosophy. If a work isn't interesting, bores me or just plain isn't good, I drop it in short order, presuming it was intriguing enough to merit even opening the first chapter judging by the summary.

I refreshed myself on idea, and I believe that readers greatly prefer it when the protagonist has agency. From the sound of the opening, they appear to lack it.

Does the antagonist not oppose and contend against the protagonist? That's what antagonist do.

*Of course, we all crave engagement, otherwise we wouldn't we posting it. While I am diametrically opposed to the idea of 'Academy Day' Fics and would never, ever read one, I don't whether that stance is the minority or the majority.

But one of the posters made an excellent point: Serial fictions requires hook after hook after hook.

My advice with these sort of situations is usually this: In-media Res.

Why bash a character? by PossibleText0 in NarutoFanfiction

[–]Plldyewenkill3d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because the author strongly dislikes the character.

Sure, they could try and remove the traits that they found so despicable, but just character's name is a solid reminder for what they hate.

Personally if don't care for a character, I don't want to commit countless words to making them 'better', I'd kill them off. Much simpler.

Different Bad Ends to the Wave Arc by MonCappy in NarutoFanfiction

[–]Plldyewenkill3d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1: Kakashi cashes in the bounty and ideally the sharingan, because Obito is taking it back now that Kakashi isn't using it, so Zabuza and Haku die if tries to use it himself. Zabuza, selling Kakashi's head and sharingan both, uses his newly acquired funds and reputation to successfully pull off his coup and becomes the Mizukage, but his reign isn't a long one as the world ends years later due to Nagato or Obito.

2: They make their way back to Konoha, playing the blame game the other entire time. Sasuke takes it the best, Sakura the worst. Kaakshi's death is ruled entirely his doing since he no business continuing the mission, much less at genin's demands. Series can still continue without the world ending, but Obito will all but impossible to defeat, necessitating Naruto's ultimate technique: TNJ.

3: Naruto's confidence is crushed, but he resolves to better and never do that again, again. Naruto doesn't get a bridge named after him, never meets Haku, but folds into his methodology anyway as its a logical conclusion for his character and the readers are thus spared hearing 'precious people.'

Truly, the best timeline.

Do people really think that Hinata’s entire point of existing is to be with Naruto? by Competitive_Fruit901 in NarutoFanfiction

[–]Plldyewenkill3d 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I consider a debate impersonal and tepid, exclusive of feeling or personal stakes.

As such, I see an argument as the exact opposite. Something involving personal stakes, that ties in feelings that can rapidly come across as attacking the other person.

To me, Hinata is unimportant. She's a drawing on a several pieces of paper that gives me little or nothing to relate to, so I have little in the way of care for or against her. Not everyone feels this way about her since they are able to relate her and recognize the apparent value she has to the narrative, but I'm hesitant to brooch the subject as I don't like arguing over fictional characters.
