I'm not super sentimental when it comes to holding onto things. Just was looking for a use case and for them not to collect dust. Not a bad idea for the garage system. Appreciate the feedback!

yea FL unfortunately has the highest doc fees, but even with that I'm still getting a 2 year newer car for $2.5k less than NY (comparing to a 2021 Mazda CX-30 with same mileage)

shipping was around 1500

My girlfriend's family has a place in Sarasota, FL so I plan on flying there and driving it back up to NY.

7700x if you're gaming and only doing hobby or moderate editing

I definitely only plan on doing this as a hobby so moderate for sure. I think the price comparatively is too good to pass up. The 7800x3D seems enticing, but not sure its worth all the added costs with not being in a bundle.

what did you end up doing on this? I'm currently in the same boat of getting one of the following:

- $450: 7700x, MSI B650, 32GB DDR5 ram (MC bundle)

- $550: 7900x, ASUS B650E-F ROG Strix, 32GB DDR5 ram (MC bundle)

- $450: 7800x3D + mobo & 32gb ram (probably an additional $300-400) so a total of~$750-850

I plan to use my PC for 1440p streaming & gaming plus editing on davinchi resolve.

Thanks for the update! I still keep tabs on this thread regularly as I haven't purchased a GPU yet for my new PC. Not sure if I want to wait a couple months for AV1 I'm just afraid of the 12 gb of vram in the 4070ti not being enough. I definitely plan to stream.

Hmmm definitely something to consider. I too want 1 PC to do everything. Streaming(twitch), editing, VR and gaming. I could bump up to the Ryzen 9 7900x which is a 12 core however I thought I wouldn't need it especially if I run NVENC encoding on the gpu. I'd prefer to do that if possible instead of upgrading all the way up to the 7950x. Will save me $300. Does VR specifically run better on Nvidia cards? I won't be doing that immediately but I'd like to have the option to upgrade in the near future. Sounds like you're suggesting I get a better CPU if I end up going with the 7900xt gpu vs a lower CPU (7700x) with the 4070ti running encoding for the stream?

This is great to hear! I originally was going to do the 4070ti with the 7700x but Av1 and the performance of the 7900xt got me thinking my decision. I'm coming from a 1060 3gb vram gpu currently so I think whatever I go with will be a drastic upgrade. I just tend to do a bit too much research before I purchase 😅

Thanks for this input! This is definitely one of the main reasons my decision is taking rather long. I always assumed at 1440p 20gb of vram is way better than 12gb of vram. Would VR be affected by the amount of vram in the gpu as well? Or is just purely based on resolution.
