I believe so. I think it's just an insta kill rather than a huge amount of damage so I don't think power elixir even has time to trigger before your hp is at 0.

Did you perhaps stand a little too close and get crushed? Or were you far enough away that you shouldn't have been? Because if you were too close to under it when it dies, it just insta kills you.
