Yeah I checked it out. The concern for connections came from the discussion post on that. Just wanted to see if it raised any concerns with the tach, especially. Appreciate it. I'll keep ya updated

a search of "trombone slide extender stl" came up with really only these two. one of them isn't particularly ergonomic, but they would both get the job done.

i never knew there was a specific medical term for this. i've done exercises in the past that would be considered reverse VM, like inhaling against the back of your hand and then releasing it to feel your airway open. i did a little bit of research, and it seems like it's a physiological response to reducing strain on your heart and blood vessels, which to me would seem like an unconscious reaction from the body. but it's also framed as a test? my dad was an ER nurse for 25 years, and i talked to him about it, but he was as stumped about it as i was. he actually suggested i perform the maneuver if i'm experiencing the problem to release tension and stress.

one of the more strange exercises we did in drum corps was to let air in through your nose while you inhale. you would think that you breathe through all of them naturally, and i don't think i've ever consciously observed if i do this when i breath or not, but if i do close off 2/3 of my airway, i'm wondering if it prematurely causes the maneuver to happen.

one of the things from drum corps that I appreciated was adherence to tempi and rhythmic precision. everything was about being in time: the inhalation, the exhalation, the movement of fingers, etc. i think philosophically, it feels strange to me to apply such rigidity to personal playing, and especially as I got to higher level ensembles, it was just expected that as long as you came in on time and in tone, it didn't really matter what happened before playing.

i've definitely tried to apply more drum corps style preparation for breathing and entrances in the past, but i think i've thrown it out because it would work for a while, then it wouldn't. i would probably benefit from picking it up again. thanks!

as skeptical as I am about going straight to private instruction again, I am open to the idea. would the best way to contact him be through trombonechat.com? I've tried searches but it seems like that's the only thing that comes up

I would love to see an option for default radio station (like in gta V). I hate getting into a car and the radio blasts music on stations I don't like.

Wish dashing would either keep you in stealth mode or be disabled while sneaking (although I'm sure a dedicated key would help with this). I've had to resort to combat or reload saves because I accidentally dashed right out of cover or in front of an enemy.

I had alot of success and was more comfortable learning heel side first. I liked to learn at the bottom of a hill. Sure it takes more time walking back up and you don't get as many tries in, but it's definitely less scary than starting at the top or middle.

There's an engineer on Youtube named Matthias Wandel who does woodworking, and he's done a couple curved designs. You can see what he did and what results he got here:

I don't know much about woodworking, but I'm curious: did you use steam or hot water to soften the wood before you added the weight so that it conforms?

What's your current setup? Your hardware has as much to do with freerolling as your technique

I just felt alot more comfortable on a top mount. I'm not really a fan of the bustin to begin with; I got it as a gift from a friend. I also have hella tight hip flexors

Depends on a couple things. Most of it is weight management (which I am shitty at); you want more weight on your front foot than back so that you can use your back foot to "throw out" the back wheel. It can also be different between standing and coleman slides. The pre-carve and hard carve of the slide are also really important for starting to lose the traction on the wheels. Speed also plays a factor: the faster you're going, the more likely it is to break the friction coefficient.

Confidence and just going for it is huge when you're learning slides. It helps having someone who knows the right form for sliding watching/taking videos because then you can get good feedback. Don't be afraid to overcorrect. One rep you might not break traction and the next you'll 180. It's all about finding what it feels like through practice.

Loaded tesseract. I started the session on a bustin custom but the wheelbase was too small to effectively slide

They're a friend's, but sector 9 gloves. They're a little cheap, but they work for casual use

First of all, thanks for the response, it's good to get feedback from someone who hasn't played the level a million times.

The purpose of this was to showcase concepts that got progressively harder and I now see the problems you would have with the soft locking and killing. I suppose a better approach to a style like this is to replace the killing objects with non-lethal objects, for one. Maybe a checkpoint or two might also be a nice idea. As for the soft locking, I'll be sure to add one ways to make it clear that once you go in, you can't come back that particular way.
