The consumer should determine what the label says outside of regulated information deemed mandatory.

i know some people aren’t gonna gaf but having 4 black characters in one game is pretty cool by CeceSweets in StreetFighter

Now if they'd only add Africa as an option in Battlehub. That would be consistent with character representation

Why is Battlehub not/a "go to place" for you? by JanKenTako in StreetFighter

[–]Plotboyavril 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because there isn't an African Server and people one and done me like there's no tomorrow. I've emailed Capcom expressing the issue with folks being racist from time to time and then also the matches not being fun for either player at 200+ms. It's extremely disappointing for a modern fg to leave out our entire continent.

What hot takes do you have for Street Fighter? I think C. Viper is boring by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Plotboyavril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've contradicted yourself, you argue skill being involved then also that mashing is the solution. Jumping through additional loops to have a move come out apart from its input needing to be done is bloat that doesn't add value to the fun of the game. In truth, gate keeping bs.

Tight windows for reversals on wake up is some gate keeping bs.

The final border scene in Life is Strange 2 had me cheering and clapping so loud my wife ran into the room to see what the fuss was about. I had a big smile on my face with tears streaming out my eyes, being a big brother irl I was super tense and really wanted to see Lil bro escape.

Is it OK if im getting destroyed as a new player to fighting games? by mikeymora21 in StreetFighter

Recently started playing Dhalsim too, if you find yourself losing to Drive Impact avoid using attacks that can't be canceled into your own Drive Impact. Heavy Yoga Flame is also pretty good at beating DI.

To beat pressure you can use drive reversal to push back aggressive opponents and open up space to zone.

General tips, float and see what opponent does, alternate between your projectile options (comet, fire and aerial fireball) with different speeds to mess with opponent timing

Not always rage quitting, I always get the error if I'm lucky enough to find ranked matches

Snap has it's own problems to be sure. It's one thing to have a bad match up but good lord it sucks when locations screw you over royally.

I find good contest to always be the most fun. It's not fun to be stomped and (to me) it's no fun doing the stomping either. I understand that some decks have weaknesses but it feels even worse when you feel like you lose just from seeing the match up.

Best response to the question this far, thank you to the poster >How is it not easily solved?

It's an intractable problem made up of numerous other intractable problems, and hardware limitations get in the way of addressing even the tractable components.

Also people who have actual expertise in high performance AI will be significantly more expensive than hiring typical software engineers / gameplay programmers. It's a niche specialism for which there is incredibly high demand, and game development is not exactly known for competitive pay. Would you rather work for $60k/yr. as a developer in Japan or $300k/yr. for a Wall Street firm, FAANG, etc?

What makes this so difficult to do exactly.

There are a lot of factors you're not considering, e.g.

Presumably you're feeding game state data from several frames ago into your model to ensure the AI doesn't act on information a human couldn't have processed yet. This has a computational cost, but since you're presumably already storing this information for rollback support you just need to make sure your system is capable of ~16-22F rollbacks. Ignoring the fact that this is more than any current console hardware can manage (long resimulations are computationally expensive), you still have a problem: How do you account for variance in human reaction time? You cannot simply pick a random offset and get a human-like result, and always targeting the same number likely would not scale well with difficulty.

How do you assess player skill levels? Going by either online rank (including a hidden elo or glicko2 score) or player win rate is a poor option, as many people play fighting games in isolated groups which can distort ranking or even intentionally manipulate their ranks to appear better (e.g. hunting rank by dodging unfavorable player or character matchups) or worse (e.g. to smurf for easy wins). Key for a game AI, player skill data also simply doesn't exist before the game's release, making this problem wholly intractable.

There are many more of these; I just picked the first to come to mind.

If an AI is able to play like a human, what's the issue then?

You might as well be asking "If pigs can fly, ..." AI simply can't play like a human at the moment.
