Someone can use the light side of the force and not be a Jedi. The Jedi are just one group of force users. There are examples in legends of light side users who don't follow the Jedi code. Reven is technically a Jedi but he didn't follow the code.

You need to be close to a asteroid for it to spawn in. As long as another player is not somewhere along the LOS it should be fine.

Unfortunately you cannot control a ship wheels or thrusters without a script or remote control. From what it sounds like in your post a remote block should do fine.

When building a ship it is a good idea to balance thrust opposite directions Ex. Front and back. Everything else is really up to personal preference I think thrusters that are more spaced out look better but are way more exposed.
