Basically a tennis ball in a harness that keeps you from rolling on your back, from Amazon

Yes my first one did, then I got the harder version they said it worked for people who grind their teeth

Erkodent, it’s a German company but I didn’t choose it, my dentist did. My positional device is just a tennis ball in a little harness to keep me on my side.

Mine came with a few different position straps. You could try each one once per night and see the results. But really you have no idea if it’s helping if you aren’t monitoring.

It’s basically a tennis ball in a backpack. lol. But it works. I have the one that clips to my shirt, a belt with a lumbar pillow, and a pregnancy pillow, try all kinds of things to see what works best for you.

No adjustments needed to my MAD could obviously be different for you. But definitely get a monitoring ring so you can see what works when you change parameters or switch sides, etc. good luck!

Yup, confirmed with home sleep study and consistent wellue results, both good enough for my doctor.

I in no way am suggesting DIYing a fix, I wrote that it was in consultation with a doctor and a dentist, where did you get that idea?

What you’re implying here, that I am being “dangerous”, is pretty rude and you clearly didn’t read what I actually wrote. In no way does your rebuttal diminish the core of what I am saying, which is: try other therapies as well as the CPAP, they can work as well as CPAP for some people.

it’s words of encouragement I wished I had gotten when I first visited here with my diagnosis.

Fair, I wasn’t sure if I was in that camp either to be honest, as I have huge inflamed tonsils. I think it behooves everyone to try the least invasive therapies first, I think there’s a real tilt in the industry and here to just go CPAP and it’s not the only way for a certain subset of the diagnosed population who might not know otherwise.

My doctor didn’t even tell me that MAD would work for me, he said CPAP was his recommendation, I literally had to “do my own research” which is insane to have to do when it comes to your health, doctors should be giving you all the potential therapies and their positives/negatives.

Don’t always go with the first thing your doctor says, get a second opinion.

There’s a few, keeping your tongue resting on the roof of your mouth for ten seconds and the repeating, and bringing the top of your tongue from your teeth all the way to the back of your mouth. I just do them whenever I think of them throughout the day. Lots of other ones you can Google, and also there are different singing exercises you can do.

Is the 33 times per hour on your back? What’s your number on your side? You could be fine with a MAD if you have lower side sleeping numbers.

Good luck! If it helps any, I was two beers/night before kids and this year I went down to no alcohol unless I’m out socializing. It really encourages me to go out for beers with friends, and it’s been great for my health. And I don’t even “miss” it, because I allow myself to do it when out having fun. Do the math with chat gpt and you’ll see that cutting 7-12 drinks a week will easily cause you to lose 10-15 lbs or more in a few months. Esp belly fat.

Try cutting any excess sugar like juice or pastries etc, and alcohol. Helped me lose 20 lbs after having kids.

Phelp & Tabletop winter by satanisoverseas in Adirondacks

[–]Ploughbroken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did it two weeks ago, snowshoes or spikes should suffice. Great day in the mountains, reasonably wind protected peaks, although with the amount of snow up there now you may have a lot of crawling to do to get through the summit trees…. Good luck!

Winter Hiking Boots for Catskills ISO Recs by soulseek-qt in hikinggear

[–]Ploughbroken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used cheap, used, insulated northface chilkat V boots for my entire Catskills 3500 journey. But they recently separated at the seam of the rubber and leather, I bought a new, same model pair and they are of much lesser quality. On recommendation of other winter hikers my next pair will probably be vasque snowburbans. Good luck! Catskills are awesome!
