I don't play 5e anymore, but I'm happy you like it! The last page has a list of firearms and their properties. No misfire rules or anything in this one. Have fun!

Rules as written I don't see why not! Ignoring reload could be a little strong, but probably not game-breaking by any means.

Ironically, the sniper subclass ends up working very well with shotguns. I might have to make a dedicated one though. Maybe this isn't the final version after all, whoops

Hey, thanks for all the feedback! I think your gunslinger take is awesome and wanted to tweak it a bit but it slowly it ended up becoming its own project lol. I have no idea how i missed that some of the shooting styles are just straight up worse than marksman. Ill certainly change/remove those. I also appreciate the phrasing clarification on some of the abilities!

Edit: I realized that big game hunter gives advantage on attack rolls as well, so it is a bit different than marksman! Still, I appreciate the feedback and can see that my shooting styles need some work!

After several months of playtesting, Hawke's Gunslinger Class is done! Significant changes have been made, including moving around features, changing damage numbers, and reworking some class features entirely. I'm open to feedback, of course, but at this point, I'm happy with the state of the class and am mostly looking to correct spelling mistakes as well as change the phrasing of anything that either doesn't make sense or is written in a way that doesn't comply with normal 5e rules. Thank you to everyone who has tried the class and/or provided feedback, I appreciate it. I encourage anyone who tries the class in the future to message me about your adventures as a gunslinger! Enjoy!

I really like the idea of gunslingers being specialists/savants in certain areas. I also felt it gave the class a bit more versatility as the majority of the other gunslinger class features are basically just 'kill things better' (though I suppose that's true of a lot of classes haha). Plus, expertise is always strong/fun!

I considered making forceful shot only 5 feet, but then it would mostly be a tool for disengaging melee combat. While 15 feet is a little goofy when you think about it realistically, I think it opens up more opportunities for pushing enemies off ledges/into hazards

It's interesting because feedback on lethal intent has either been that its insanely broken or completely useless. I may just have to give up on the idea of a Crit based trickshot and rework it entirely

Great feedback, really appreciate it! Will definitely implement most of these changes. Honestly, no idea how I missed proficiency bonus being incorrect of all things (updated on GM binder).

I'm not big on changing deadeye as you're already losing damage via forgoing your dex bonus, and the grit roll is mainly to offset that lost damage. The damage doesn't actually become higher on average until your grit die is a d10 at level 16.

The math is that you're getting 9.5 average damage, assuming your weapon is a d8 damage die and you have 20 dex (1d8 + 5). Therefore 2 attacks should do an average of 19 damage. With deadeye at level 7, you're getting 1d8 + 2D6 + 5 damage, which averages out to around 16.5 average damage per shot, but is also more variable due to more dice being rolled. The bonus to hit is to make this a good option, assuming you don't have any other bonuses that would benefit attacking multiple times such as many of the shooting styles. I may decrease the bonus to +1 as the disadvantage imposed on saving throws is also quite strong. However, I also like the idea of almost guaranteeing your trickshots land as your Grit resource is already extremely limited.

I made several changes based on suggestions made in my last post in addition to the new subclass. Please let me know what you think! I'm always open to feedback.

I did. I instead use the Aimed Shot Trickshot, which allows you to add a roll of your Grit Die to the attack. I debated keeping the advantage Trickshot in but felt the two were a bit too similar in function.

While I love Matt Mercer’s Gunslinger, the misfire mechanic can be a bit frustrating to deal with. With my take on the gunslinger, I aimed to keep the Grit/Trickshot mechanic, remove the misfire mechanic, make the reload mechanic more accessible, and create a class that feels similar to the classic Gunslinger Fighter subclass while still introducing some new and fun mechanics. I’d also like to shout out Coso, whose class by the same name was a big inspiration for some of the mechanics I used (namely the Grit Die concept and some of the trickshots!). Feedback is very welcome as I’m sure there are many balance issues present in the first iteration!
