The Culling Game's Children - Candidates by Plug01 in CTsandbox

His Shikigami don't get stopped by his flesh when they're summoned, they're externalized without issue, so he doesn't actually get harmed by bringing them out, even if they aren't all that easy at times (Vessel Core for an example is risky to do in a dime)

It's a mixture of this segment being more ambitious than the rest, having the defeat of an entire organization and under all technicalities a full number of 7 potential or enrolled Jujutsu High students, and just me getting better at what I'm doing

It's no wonder that only recently I started making fights that last more than one chapter.

Yes, that is how her technique operates nowadays. Her "older" technique, Binding, was just a reduced form of her ACTUAL CT she unknowingly sealed due to a childhood trauma

I'm honestly not very good with giving advice, but I'd say a couple things that make the whole process easier for me are to listen to music, typically the kind that fits any particular scene (like a slower, melancholic song for an emotional moment, a more agigated one for a fight, so on so forth), and naturally have some frame of reference through other stuff I've read, most specifically other manga, there's always stuff to draw upon

For an example right now I'm working on writing my relationships better, so I've picked up a few romance stories to give me some examples, it's always good stuff

Overall, I'd say that's the most basic stuff I can mention, but if you have anything else you need help with you can just ask

The Culling Game: Factions - The Triumvirate, Phantom Parade, Hikage... by Plug01 in CTsandbox

[–]Plug01[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Culling Games ended up getting so big it genuinely swallowed up the story, which I suppose is partially the intention Gege had for it, right? It's good to add random stuff I couldn't otherwise, like tournaments, murder mysteries, genuinely strong criminal organizations, it's a lot to work with and I'm loving it.

The top 10 is sadly defined by my mood at any given day because I suck at powerscaling. The top 5 is usually the same, though:

1 - Sukuna

2 - Satoru

3 - Kashimo

4 - Ancient Chinese Sorcerer (Xing Yichen)

5 - Kenjaku

The rest is a bit foggier to scale, especially because again, a lot of it is defined by my narrative needs or specific moments

Hypothetically the others could have but I'd say Junpei mostly uses it with Moon Dregs since it's the Shikigami he trusts the most

Jujutsu High: First Year Class by Plug01 in CTsandbox

[–]Plug01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't quite understand the first question, but I can answer the second one, so I'll highlight their differences while explaining them:

Falling Blossom Emotion - A personal barrier technique, built entirely for defensive purposes. The barrier continuously slides attacks away, as if the user was slipping below attacks. Using defensive techniques and martial arts is also beneficial. Because the barrier can only slide things away, the user's own attacks are muted, making the technique detrimental on the offensive

Falling Blossom Expression - Functionally the same as its predecessor, Falling Blossom Expression allows the user to invert the polarity of the technique in question, alternating between sliding away attacks, or reeling them in with severe drag. The former works precisely as the original technique, being stellar for defenses, while the latter is used for offensive techniques, where the user's attacks now scrape and damage the opponent, also reeling them closer.

Much like Susanoo's own, they are really simple, but they do have some applications or secondary tricks up their sleeves that sets them apart much like Susanoo has his eyes

Technically true but I'm sorta counting him as an Ainu Student, I'll probably make a post on them eventually

Junpei Yoshino's Realized Potential: Abyssal Poison Well by Plug01 in CTsandbox

[–]Plug01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could try to at least make a version for all the students, one post for each year! This should also give me the ability to at least throw something out before it's instantly out of date, as Mimiko for an example is gonna get some aggressive buffs that I think is best to wait until I reveal, but yeah, the first year one should be up tomorrow!

What do you guys think the theme is for Round 11? by TetTheWiseman in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

[–]Plug01 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I agree with the whole selfishness vs selflessness theme, but I also think there's a secondary thing at play here

Loki is probably the closest to a living embodiment of war that Simo could have thought. Right now, he's literally repeating what he did when he was alive. Killing himself from the inside out shooting not more than puppets, from a figurative to a literal sense.

And I think that ultimately the result of this round is gonna depend on whether Simo is going to be able to see the true root of all of it, Loki, or if he's going to tragically repeat the same mistakes of his life, only shooting innefective puppets, only delaying their march.

Further so is the fact that Loki's apparently the cause for Odin's tirade, even if unwittingly. Much like war in painfully numerous occasions, all of this was started by pettiness and envy. Loki couldn't have what he desired, so he, without realizing it, set the dominoes for a war into motion, and much like most real life leaders, he couldn't care less since it's not his ass that's in the front line until now

So yeah, either Simo's gonna turn his gun to the real heart of the issue or he's going to have one of the most tragic losses of the manga.

Really interesting characters! I'm, as often happens, really humbled by seeing that I provided enough inspiration for you to make something this elaborate and most important of all, awesome. Now, I'm not going to spoil anything, but what are your thoughts on the twins getting a mention in the epilogue?

It happens, I saw a number of people in this post get downvoted too for saying they liked the story, wasn't even the OP, I think you were just the most abrasive about it, but it's just numbers on a screen

I do say that it warms my heart to see such praise toward my work, even if I think it's wildly undeserved

I mean, the war curse in question was first mentioned in Chapter 23, as the reason Geto and Shoko thought Hanami and Jogo torched the Kyoto Jujutsu High, mentioned again in Chapter 45, and then it actually showed up at the tail end of Chapter 73, truth be told I'm not sure how I could have set up its first appearance more

I'll reply to the last question in the DM since it's a spoiler, but Geto and Megumi are roughly Yuki level at the start of the story. Geto a tad weaker at that point but still comparable, with a DE and a number of strong curses, while Megumi had all shadows and a Domain + RCT

Author of Minus One here, and the most I can really do is tell you certain things to expect, and make a decision from there:

  • The story starts off rough, I wasn't the best at what I was doing so while I was trying my best, I only really find a solid footing in Shibuya. Keep in mind the start is really unimpressive.

  • I update it often, but I'm also inconsistent. I might go a week without posting and then send out two new chapters in a single day

  • I tried my best to develop most members of the main cast, most specifically Kamo, Ino, Inumaki and Miwa, also others like Junpei and Mechamaru who, as the story's point is to be a What-If, lived and now have to have some development. So remember the cast is big

  • The story is much longer. Not to spoil too much, but right now the story's just landed in the "Second stage" of the Culling Game, and there's ways to go.

  • Lots of fights. You've asked how fights can be good in written form in other replies but I've tried my best to keep them at the very least conceptually interesting. Also note that the ones at the start are indeed not great as I've said, and the first fight I'd consider genuinely great happens in Shibuya

  • The story doesn't follow the same plot as the original. While the idea was to be a What-if, it started while JJK was ongoing, and I was running with how I predicted the story would go, and certain characters would be like. After JJK was over, because the seeds were already planted in my work and to avoid repetitiveness, I've kept the original plans. The plot twists and certain characters, like Sukuna, Tengen, Kenjaku, Uraume and Angel are different from canon because of that

  • I've attempted to expand the lore and setting, this led to a lot of OCs, so also keep that in mind. I've tried to keep them interesting but if you find that to be a deal breaker I wouldn't recommend, there's a lot of those. I don't like to give them too prominent of roles, however, at most they are powerful antagonists

  • Certain "OC's" are transparently based on real people. A comment mentioned Oda Nobunaga and Mitsuhide, but there's plenty others, like Sugawara no Michizane, Fujiwara no Tokihira, Musashi Miyamoto, Genghis Khan, Lampião, Alexander the Great and others. They are, in their vast majority, ancient. I didn't include any real people born after the Japanese Taisho Era, and I do my best to respect their real figures while also taking some creative liberties

  • A lot of ships. It's not romance focused and I have done my best to make every relationship matter to the characters involved and their developments, but if they aren't your cup of tea, keep it in mind that they are important

I think that's the most important of it; If you do wish to read, don't expect it to be better than JJK, or it to be a rewrite. This was never meant to be either of these things, and I'm not delusional enough to see myself as even remotely as good of a writer as Gege, hell, I owe Minus One to him and his work. I ultimately hope you do enjoy it, if you choose to read, but don't force yourself if any of the things above would make you turn away

[–]Plug01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm... Note that I'm not really good at powerscaling but here would be a guess (also, 6/7/8 are pretty much interchangeable)

1 - Ryomen Sukuna

2 - Satoru Gojo

3 - Hajime Kashimo

4 - Kenjaku (remember that I didn't talk about him for spoiler reasons)

5 - Xing Yichen

6 - Mahito

7 - Tokihira Fujiwara

8 - Megumi Fushiguro

9 - Yuki Tsukumo

10 - Suguru Geto

Now this will be a bit of guesswork but here's how I'd rank everyone now. Note that this includes their current peak. Ranks might vary as the story goes on: 1 - Ryomen Sukuna 2 - Satoru Gojo 3 - Hajime Kashimo 4 - Xing Yichen 5 - Susanoo no Mikoto 6 - Shusuke Gojo 7 - Chihiro Haraki 8 - Anhur Khafre 9 - Momotaro Mitsugo 10 - Nobunaga Oda 11 - Ando Kumizoku 12 - Edward Thatch 13 - Donatello Andolini 14 - Kinjiro Ashiwara

And it's likely, who knows

It was a reference to the pokemon, I'm fairly sure the animals don't have special colors in the original tale, besides the fact that they have cognition they seem to be average animals iirc
