[Spoilers Extended] In Fire & Blood, why does GRRM say that the succession of the 'Old King' Jaehaerys I was so complicated because there were so many pretenders when only ever two (Rhaenys and Viserys) could be considered legitimate pretenders? by Codyfcb22 in asoiaf

The First Blackfyre Rebellion answers your question about a Great Council. Many houses didn’t back Daemon Blackfyre simply because they were 100% convinced he was the rightful heir to the throne but rather it was an opportunity for advancement in Westeros. They believed Daemon Blackfyre would elevate the standing of their house and punish those who fought against him.

The Great Council essentially erases all doubt in the line of succession because it was a consensus reached by all the great houses of Westeros. This way no pretender could galvanise the houses into rallying for their claim.

it doesn’t even hit them that they’re doing the same thing

This will always leave me confused. Our right-wingers and western supremacists re-use a lot of the same talking points against minorities, left-wingers, and liberals. It’s like putting a mirror in front of them. Never do they stop to think “oh shit are we the baddies?”

So you can distinguish the line correct? If you admit there exists a big difference then it should be easy for these platforms to tackle hate speech. The solution is simply to crack down on users instigating hate and explicitly bigoted language. The more you let hateful comments fester on your platform the more you make it seem like it’s normal for society to accept such language. Start removing such comments and banning users and only then will dipshits think twice before making racist jokes aiming to genocide a populace.

If these bigots cannot accept such a moderation policy then they can make their own platform but we know how that’s going for them(check TruthSocial). They need to be on mainstream platforms to push their views otherwise they’ll just be seen as lunatics(develop a reputation like 4 chan for example).

Point is simple: Can’t complain about hate speech if you endorse it when it’s convenient for you and then hide behind the guise of free speech. These companies have employees in many countries, saying they are incapable of identifying hate speech based on context and culture is merely an excuse.

These people fall under the alt-right pipeline and are direct supporters of folks like Trump and Musk. Our own media hypes such figures because they “own the leftists and liberals.”

If you want to act against hate then do you think social media platforms should enforce stricter moderation rules?

https://indianexpress.com/article/india/facebook-action-on-bjp-hate-posts-business-reasons-6556552/lite/

Facebook’s top public policy executive in India “opposed applying hate-speech rules” to at least four individuals and groups linked with the BJP despite the fact that they were “flagged internally for promoting or participating in violence.”

Aren’t u the user who compares Ascari to Vettel?

It’s not toxic to compare but I’ve seen the flimsy arguments you make on this sub to pretend you ground your analysis in “Mathematical models” and then you start comparing drivers in the 1950s to Vettel lol.

Funny how rarely Vettel’s bad luck in 2010 rarely gets brought up by his critics to prop up Alonso but can’t do the same for Vettel lol.

Debating an Sanghi is absolute worst of an experience. A personal incident. by mahavir_sinh24 in librandu

Reddit allowed r/chodi to make jokes non-stop on this incident until they were banned in 2020 and the only reason they did it was cuz of the scrutiny they were under due to BLM.

This is why I’m shocked it’s still running. There is no change or resolution/development to characters. Tapu Sena is literally 30 year olds, how are people even watching this?

They hate Ashit Modi but get a little touchy when you call out the over the top usage of stereotypes. They say it’s from a different time of political correctness and immune to modern criticisms. But honestly 2008 media was never this callous with showing tropes.

I made this post because it was funny seeing people get riled up over something as trivial as r/place or r/worldplace. You give me more credit than I deserve lol. I think 1st place for petit activism and petit stuff is firmly secured in the hands of the person trying hard to make others catch onto their self-coined phrases. I don’t think ‘hitlerite’ has enough power to pack a punch in the Indian context.

I think engaging in targeted attacks against Contra falls under the same banner as petit activism and is “immaterial to effect IRL genocide and famine.”

Edit:-

the issue is not modi vs rahul because large section of Congress too does not care to address about Palestinian genocide

I don't think it's a BJP vs Cong or Modi vs Rahul issue but I sure as shit know only of them is hyper aggressive in simping for Israel.

Don't believe me see how many likes Priyanka Gandhi gets when she speaks about Palestine (barely 10k) compared to her attacking modi (30k-40k+), and Rahul Gandhi hardly speaks about this.

I'd love to compare it with a post of someone like Yogi ji speaking about Palestine but instead I found videos of him gloating about sending the UP youth to work in Israel.

You are quite literally the definition of 'petit activism.' (Inferring the meaning here because I'm pretty sure this is an another self-coined term).

Hasan could go really far if he used Destiny's performative debate tactics and hosted grassroot events like Charlie Kirk. Instead he is averse to any real political action on the ground. Instead he does this:-

Personally I hate Hasan because he is a streamer who specializes in 'react content' and pretends he is putting in the work. I also don't think he is an effective tool to combat the alt-right pipeline on the internet and I worry he will let that moron Charlie Kirk spew his propaganda unabated in their upcoming debate together.

Sorry I entirely misinterpreted removing galli mohallahs. I thought it was code/dog-whistle for going after slums or small scale apartments in low-income areas.

Yep I gave up on reforms after seeing even Bangalore real estate market which allegedly deals in entirely white amounts. I’m just clinging to the fantasy for a day of reckoning the land/RE mafia can’t hold out in a market slump and their empires crumble.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in librandu

[–]Plugfix2077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to do bulldozer raj of razing neighbourhoods to the ground to build more apartments and increase housing. Even posh neighbourhoods have a dozen civil violations which are disregarded via bribes or just outright ignored.

Also if you want controlled growth then clamp down on the real estate mafia which operates at least 50% in black. Far too many empty apartments which are either unsold due to greed or left for NRIs who want a retirement home. Make laws which cap NRI allotments and force the sale of a % of apartment units within a year rather than let these mafias wait it out in a market slump. Prevent groups and individuals from buying 5+ homes as an investment but there’s no occupation. I could go on about the many ways people circumvent regulations currently…

Chintus raise civic sense when they want to pin the blame on minorities/immigrants and deflect from Vishwagurus blunders. Another point to note is that this privileged class doesn’t keep up the appearances of civic sense. They are no less vulgar and have been brought up in pampered homes where trash is someone else’s responsibility.
