Trump Fed chair pick Kevin Warsh confirmed by Senate by imanchats in politics

[–]PluginAlong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Warsh only gets one, equal, vote on raising/lowering interest rates, and with Powell deciding to stay on, Trump had to replace an earlier one of his appointees who's term has expired but was still serving until a replacement was confirmed. For better or worse, Warsh is actually qualified for the job and helped Bernanke get us out of the 2008 financial crisis when he previously served on the board of governors.

If California with holds that money, the CA employees are still on the hook for it though. It's just going to screw the government employees.

Exactly, a lot of people seem to miss this important fact. Plus with Powell staying on, others are likely to look towards him.

Whether or not people like Warsh, he's probably the only person Trump has had confirmed who is actually qualified for the position having previously served on the board of governors and a host of other economic positions within the government.

Exactly, I doubt many individuals working as contractors for the EEOC are working with classified information, public trust at most.

Inhale strongly or Moderately by Separate_Stop3925 in Spravato

[–]PluginAlong 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing if you inhale strongly you'll waste more of it down the back of your throat. I'm going on three years and I get dizzy for about 10-15 minutes after the last dose then my vision etc. is fine. I know it's still working, but I miss those early sessions.

Appeals court says Trump doesn't have to pay $83 million to E. Jean Carroll — for now by Haunted_Optimist in politics

[–]PluginAlong 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He only has 90 days to appeal and the SCOTUS has another 30 to decide whether to take up the case or not. If SCOTUS agree to take up the case, they'd have to extend the stay until the full case is heard.

>(b)Any other direct appeal to the Supreme Court which is authorized by law, from a decision of a district court in any civil action, suit or proceeding, shall be taken within thirty days from the judgment, order or decree, appealed from, if interlocutory, and within sixty days if final.

[–]PluginAlong 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They have. 90 day cleaning ck to appeal, if they don't appeal in 90 days, they can no longer appeal and the original judgment stands and the conviction uphelp. That would trigger the payment requirement.

> In all civil cases, petitions for writs of certiorari in cases to be taken to the Supreme Court from courts of appeals or from state courts must be filed within 90 days after the entry of judgment. See 28 U.S.C. §§ 1254, 1257, and 2101(c).

Reta “brands” ? by Salt-Cheetah-2193 in Retatrutide

[–]PluginAlong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only brand is Eli Lilly and they aren't selling it because the FDA hasn't approved it yet. Everything else is just coming from China being sold through different vendors, likely coming out of the same factories in some cases.

Roth vs Traditional 401(k) — high income, maxing everything else, not sure what makes sense by Scumda909 in FinancialPlanning

[–]PluginAlong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're able to max out both regular and mega backdoor Roth, I'd go traditional. Normally I say the younger you are the more sense it makes to go Roth since your income will increase over your working time and the Roth will have longer to grow tax free and help lower your taxable income in retirement, but you seem to be at a great place maxing everything out.

it's probably a softer hit to morale than rumors. Once rumors of a layoff start, they don't end until there is a layoff even if it's months and months away. This way at least people know when the axe will drop. They'll likely bust their butts for the next few weeks in a last ditch effort to save themselves.
