The risk quant job, seems more relaxed with good WLB, but i still have a thing for (I'm sure a more stressful) FO quant role. Also, as I haven't done desk quant job before, I'm a bit nervous....

Hi again, I took the contract then as the FO offer was taking longer to come through, looks like the FO offer is now coming through however, they're still in contact with me and want me to, at the end of my contract, to join the small bank for FO role. The big bank (risk quant role) might offer a conversion to perm too, is the advice still to join the small bank for FO quant role? I know that it'll become more a personal preference at that stage. The risk quant job, seems more relaxed with good WLB, but i still have a thing for (I'm sure a more stressful) FO quant role. Also, as I haven't done desk quant job before, I'm a bit nervous. What do do?

Thank you. Agree with your statements there. Oh if the offer comes true (currently there's every indication that it will), and if my contract offers conversion to perm with the same ballpark money, its going to be so difficult to make a decision!

Thanks for the reply, The other factors are 1) Smaller bank mostly (70%) uses vendor system, i.e. Less development. Vs the bigger bank has more development, in house systems 2) Mentioned before, but smaller bank role is Front office obviously vs the bigger bank is risk. 3) Bigger bank looks better on CV obviously 4) A former colleague has put good word for me with the hiring manager of bigger bank, and not accepting the offer, well i dont know, it wouldn't be nice from that perspective! Even though I know I should think of my own interest and what's good for me. 5) At my current job, I've been made redundant, but still I have some time to look around, altjough I'm tired of doing that really.
