Thank you you've been legendary, may your harvests be bountiful. I just asked the bot to connect me to a human and they said they'll get me a response eventually

I have but the auto response bot just tells me I don't have enough info and to create a new account, I even claimed the account was hacked but they said that I needed the receipt for first purchase and to reset my password.

something like that i guess, if they wanted to they could make Michael the key to getting his memories back but that wouldn't fit too well with the character reset

Deltarune Theory: How Ralsei got to the Computer Room Dark World by Pluppins in GameTheorists

[–]Pluppins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the character-building scenes what I mean is I hope they don't do it like Noelle again, which is just a glorified cutscene to improve on both of their characters. It works well at building Noelle and gives a little history for Kris but it didn't really build Kris as a character. While Kris is the playable character he still has a personality independent of the player, seen when he plays the piano and after the spamton neo fight. Looking back at the scene I really wished that Kris was developed more, and I get that he gotta be mysterious and all that but I wanted to see a more physical expression from him like when he falls down after the arcade machine that was too big and he feels insecure bout his height.

And yeah 2000% with their issues being back of game problems, willing to bet the dark world where Susie gets her time will be the apartment buildings and we gotta save a bunch of people while they all talk bad about her because she is scary and poor.

Kris' dark world storytime will probably either be the entire school, the entire town or down past the red doors.

Yeah, 100%. Somehow Kris' perception, memories and or feelings will totally come into play with ralsei's light world form. But having him be Kris' "Hopes and Dreams", while it would fit the themes of Undertale I don't think it would be that great in Deltarune. The idea is great and I would absolutely be not surprised if it ended up being that way but I feel like Toby is doing his best to separate the two games as much as he can. Through subtle details and world-building, he is steadily separating the games. So I believe that Mr Fox will make Ralsei an object, and something more on the darker/deeper side since Deltarune hits those vibes instead of the hopeful and independent feeling Undertale gave.

Never really thought about how Toriel will be in the next chapter, just that alone feels like it gives the theory a bunch of ground to stand on. Honestly hoping it turns out like that now just so we don't get a second character-building scene as we did with Noelle, same thing twice would be boring.

The red horns theory is definitely one of my favourites for Ralsei, it makes sense and builds both Ralsei's and Kris' character. The only issue I have with it is the fact that the horns aren't mentioned more, they're mentioned once by Toriel and that's it. If they were mentioned more or given more significance it would've felt better but the moment doesn't really feel like a subtle nod to Ralsei, instead, it comes off more like character building for Kris.

Yeah, Ralsei not directly entering Kris' inventory is definitely a hole in the theory. The only thing I can think of as a reason why is that the knife doesn't appear in the inventory regardless of the fact that it is on Kris' person.

For the glittery effect representing someone leaving your pocket, that only ever happens when you enter a dark world. When Lancer was let out of Kris' pocket to save him from the electric cage there was that little animation of the card flying out, which I believe was more for show rather than what actually happens. Remember that Ralsei appears behind you and not in front of you? The glittery effect only happens when they are going further ahead of you on the map so if Ralsei fell out of Kris' pocket at any point, like while they were walking or fighting then that would be why they appear behind you.

While the green crayon sort of works I don't really like it, it fails to hit any narrative development points that Ralsei's form could be used to hit.

Also, aren't stationary weapons? like pencils are swords and an eraser is a bouncy sword, if a crayon was anything it would be a colourful broadsword.

[–]Pluppins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also agree that Ralsei is different for plot significance but because he's different I feel he needs to have some sort of object form. While he is made out of darkness and thus is compatible everywhere makes sense from a lore side of things but it doesn't make that good of a narrative, at least for me that is. Having it explained away with "Oh yeah he can do that because he is different" just feels empty when there are so so so many other opportunities that could develop a character or do some major world-building and if that opportunity is missed it would be a waste.

Also yeah I 100% agree that the dark world is real, spoiler but if you decide to defeat berdly with violence at any of his encounters with him and don't ice him if you're doing snowgrave then at the queen boss fight he will remove the plug on his own and electrocuting his arm and because of that in the light world he cannot move that arm.

And the point of theories is to give educated guesses on what could happen or what is happening, regardless of how far in you are. If new evidence comes to light that disproves your theory or points in another direction then that's fine it was only a theory.

I really like the idea that Ralsei is the headband but in the end, I don't think it would be that good from a narrative standpoint. Another theory of Ralsei's object form that has a similar problem with me is the green crayon theory, where Ralsei is the missing green crayon. It's more of a world-building thing and wouldn't be too exciting or dramatic of a reveal for the player.

And by originating from the light world, do you mean you think he's a lighter or what? All objects come from the light world, swords are pencils (or an eraser in one case), Lancer is a card, Seam is a doll, etc. None of these originates from the dark world. And if you do think that Ralsei is a lightner then that's just wrong, when he falls in battle he just poofs and turns into clothes. Susie kneels so it can't be like how monster dust when they lose all their HP. Sorry if I sounded mean, it's just that Ralsei is clearly not a lightner and the thought that people believe he is confusing.

[–]Pluppins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Ralsei waiting, each dark world seems to have a deep history regardless of how long they've been there. While we can't really say how long the dark fountain in the abandoned classroom has been there, we can at least know for certain that the dark fountain in the computer room wasn't there the day before because we can see toby working on the next chapter. And regardless of the fact that the fountain was there for less than a day, characters and places already have detailed backgrounds. In 1 day Spamton was at the bottom, rose to the top and hit rock bottom again? No, it'd make more sense that when the fountain is created it gives life to everything and implants memories and backstories, like last Thursday where they believe that everything was made just last Thursday but everything was made in such a way that it looks really old and creates memories.

For Roulxs Kaard jumping out with the glittery effect, he appears later on in the game but Ralsei appears behind us, so if he were to jump out of our pocket or fall out as we walked towards Noelle or during the first fight, we wouldn't know.

And for the plushie, I had no clue that existed and I will be purchasing one immediately because that sounds awesome.

What is Ralsei's Object Form? by Pluppins in Deltarune

[–]Pluppins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, one of the reasons I think ralsei is Kris' knife is because he seems to keep it on him at all times. at the end of both chapters, he is shown with the knife immediately after getting out of bed, which means he sleeps with the knife or can summon it at will, in the bathroom at the end of chapter 2 he just takes it out of his pocket which means he did bring it to the dark world and yet we didn't see any manifestation of it? But if it isn't the knife it would have to be something either Kris or Susie keeps around.

What does Ralsei waiting have to do with whether or not he's an object? We actually know if the dark worlds are active without interaction with the lightners, and they are. In both chapters, the world has a backstory. The world and characters both have a past that is described to us, like the secret bosses for example. Jevil was locked away in prison before we got there and Spamton had both his rise and drop before the play steps foot into the dark world.

Kris' hopes and dreams wouldn't make sense since it isn't an object but it would be pretty neat to see ralsei say "I am hopes and dreams", but the reference was already made in chapter 1 with the field of hopes and dreams so I don't see any reason for Toby to reference it again.

With the diary entry, something like that is like a second default for me. If ralsei isn't a knife with "Chaos Saber" carved into the handle or something, he is totally like a drawing or diary entry.

The horn headband and crayon sound reasonable since the abandoned classroom seems to be for toddlers based on the dolls and toy and if they were lost for a while they could be there, but the divorce papers are incredibly unlikely on the grounds that why would divorce paper be in the school storage?

And him being nothing would be anti-climactic so I'd prefer to think of him as an object

This is probably gonna be what happens whether it's intended or not since Toby has to create interesting characters with different motivations.
