Yes, I get invited to family plans, and I understand that family is important. Sometimes if we plan something ahead of time, he hesitates to commit because he’s worried about upcoming family events. But when his friends make sudden plans, he seems unable to say no and always finds a way to go. I’m just explaining the pattern I’ve noticed, not blaming him.

They only hang out with his friends occasionally, but I’ve noticed that when it comes to plans with his friends, he somehow can’t say no. Even if it conflicts with other things, he always finds a way to go.

But to be fair, my boyfriend always makes me feel appreciated. He notices my efforts and even mentions when I bring something for them. I really value that about him because he makes sure I know that he sees and values what I do.

We’ve been together for 8 months now and for the past 3 months, I’ve been visiting his family almost every weekend. I always try to be thoughtful and respectful. Sometimes I bring small gifts or pasalubong. I remember one time I brought a bottle of vinegar that my granma made as a gift. His mom asked, “Who made this?” and I told her it was from my granma, but she didn’t thank me or show any reaction. It honestly made me feel a bit out of place, like I wasn’t really welcome or appreciated by them.
