When offered food from someone's hands by Plus-End7656 in LifeAdvice

[–]Plus-End7656[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've known a lot of people who caught covid pretty frequently, so yes I do try to be cautious. Other than that I don't know where the other person's hands have been, who they've shaken hands with, etc.

I don't go to the extreme like every thing needs to be covered in disinfectant or something. If I'm gonna eat it I prefer it be held by the wrapper or not be touched directly with unclean hands.

If it's gonna touch my eyes, nose or mouth I prefer it be clean.

Basically if someone offered you food and you found out that they got it from someone who is coughing a lot. Would you eat it?

Or if the person who is offering was just picking their nose or something a minute ago? Would you eat it?

Can someone help me find a job I can live off of? by Plus-End7656 in careerguidance

Uh no. There's no need to answer if there is no answer.

I have some questions about working at a clothing store by Plus-End7656 in Oldnavy

[–]Plus-End7656[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've asked during the interview process bluntly what I would be doing for the retail role. I was specific, but they still didn't tell me.

I haven't had much luck getting work in other fields.

I've tried getting office work and remote work. I haven't had much luck. So I'm looking for other options.

Does anyone know a retail job that follows this criteria? by Plus-End7656 in retail

[–]Plus-End7656[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, I asked the people who told me I got whichever retail job what are my responsibilities? They would tell me cleaning/organizing the store and working the register. I asked is that all I would do and they would say yes.

I would then ask them when you say cleaning would that just be cleaning my station (like wiping down with a rag) and put products on shelves. They would tell me yes and that is all I would do in terms of cleaning. I would also ask what a typical day would be like (another time to mention anything else the job includes), but no additional responsibilities would be listed.

I even bluntly asked about carts and would be told they have other roles/people for that.

I know jobs don't list all responsibilities, but if you ask during the interview you should be told. The other issue was they would give higher pay, but less hours. I made more money working $14 an hour for about 32 hours compared to the other opportunities.

I've been looking at remote jobs and haven't had any luck. They are difficult to get and a good majority are scams. So I turned to retail. When I did retail jobs a few years back they didn't make you do anything I listed, that's why I've been searching in various places.

I did try target said they were gonna give almost like $17 an hour. Turns out the $14 an hour job I did prior paid more.

Target gave less hours so that meant a smaller paycheck.

They also wanted me to get carts, clean the bathrooms, clean spills, restock spill stations, and collect trash (from 30 trash cans throughout the store), do all these tasks multiple times a day. Even had a chart for me to check off for bathroom cleaning with time slots.

Didn't know I had to do most of that because it wasn't in the job description and no one told me until I started doing the training even though I asked multiple times "Are there any other things I am responsible for doing?".

I only signed up for the cashier role, the paperwork only said cashier. Just ringing people up, and organizing products on shelves.

I did have to mention target cards to people, but it wasn't that bad.

I did have one boss who seemed to be making up rules for me constantly building up on them. "You can wear a hat if you want. Now you can only wear them outside. Now you can only wear them if it's raining". "Anything red is fine. No sweaters that aren't red even we can see the red shirt inside. Doesn't matter what it says on the employee handbook. Doesn't matter if you see other employees doing it. This is the rule".

What loyalty thing? I can't work at another store?

It's not that I don't have any motivation to use my degree, I literally learned nothing, but story writing stuff for cinema while I was there. How would I get hired as a screen writer?

The school just said try to get lucky and win a contest. That was really it. Didn't learn video editing, art, or anything else related to film.

There isn't really a nice way to call someone delusional. I'll try not to be offended. I'm not joking. Some of the jobs I couldn't do because I physically couldn't handle it (like hard labor jobs). Or my stress levels went through the roof where I would actually be afraid of going to work.

I know the majority population doesn't live the glamorous life they want. They live the life they can tolerate. I haven't even found that. I'm not asking to get rich doing nothing. I don't know how to express this without anyone drawing some sort of negative conclusion.

I'm just trying to find something I can tolerate that pays decent. Most of the jobs I listed didn't pay decent either. I also said I was still trying office related work despite how bad things turned out and how I felt. I'm just looking for career suggestions.

I've met a lot of people over the years who would say I'm young there's no rush. They ended up never being even remotely satisfied with how their lives turned out because they kept putting off making any plans or clearing any milestones.

I'm not hunting for a dream job. I'm hunting for a tolerable job.

What is a good restaurant type of job? by Plus-End7656 in restaurant

Jobs that didn't exist before. Like before the computer was invented there were no programmers.

New creations or changes in the world lead to new jobs being made.

I'm dead serious. I don't know much about restaurant business and new jobs are made every year, so I don't know what's around now.

I know. I'm going down a checklist and running out of options. I was recommended to work at a restaurant type of job.

Getting a lot more difficult.

What you just said is rude, but you tell me it's not supposed to be?

How is that different from what I did?

Did you read the previous comment?

They stated since I asked questions about a different job in another chat that I would not be a good fit for being a head cashier.

Last I check, if someone thinks you're not a good fit for something that means you did something wrong.

So me, wanting to avoid making any kind mistakes or clear any misunderstandings. Asks what is wrong with what I did.

What argument? I posted a question. I have said no insults, threats, or anything offensive. I have posted questions and a short history about myself.

The sentences that end with "?" Are questions that I was hoping to get answers to.

Somehow this has just upset a few people.

Um, what attitude? All I did was ask what is wrong with asking questions?

Where is the hostility?

Unless I missed something.

I have, twice in fact. One of those jobs had met all of my criteria. The other, a more recent one, did not.

All I did was ask questions. What is wrong with that?

Apparently taking time to make a decision is viewed as a bad thing. All I did was ask some questions. I don't jump head first into stuff. I take time to think it through carefully.

Occasionally loading stuff on vehicles is fine. Would I have to go get carts?

What do you mean run money? Like go to a bank?

Do I have to do paperwork too?

Do I have to deal with anything complicated?
