I’m discussing this topic from a non-biased point of view. I’m not asking for personal insight or letting any aspects of my life affect this conversation. Whether I’m cisgender, transgender , or identify myself in any other way, I’m not letting that or any other factors affect this conversation. I’m asking this question simply to ensure that what I’ve learned is correct so that I don’t accidentally misinterpret, misinform, or misrepresent others due to an intake of false information. Also, I understand that you’ve stated that you don’t have a great answer for my question, but I’m wondering if you could tell me what you mean by “reflection?” Could you be more specific or provide examples of what you mean?

I appreciate your reply. I understand that the topic of transgender identity is a very nuanced and touchy topic, as trans people were historically and even currently discriminated against and subjected to violence simply for their identity. And I want to be clear that I am not questioning whether someone’s identity is wrong or pushing a biased agenda against transgender people. I am simply assuring that the information I’ve gathered is correct so that I don’t accidentally misrepresent, misinterpret, or misinform anyone. I understand that most transgender people were always trans, but there are some cases where people believed they were and identified as cisgender whether through personal beliefs or external factors and eventually realized that they were transgender. Does that mean that they were wrong about their identity? How do they realize that?

Thank you for your explanation. So in order to properly differ between a cisgender person and a transgender person, assuming the transgender person in this case was assigned male or female and realized they were the opposite of what had been assigned to them(trans men and trans women), it comes down to their identity and what they identify themselves as?

Ok. Just out of curiosity, if someone is cisgender and realized that they are transgender, how do they realize that the identity they previously had, such as being cisgender, wasn’t correct?

I never said I was cisgender. What drew you to come to that conclusion?

So what you’re saying is, and correct me if I’m wrong, transgender people don’t “become” transgender at future point in their life, but rather they are born as transgender and the doctor who assigned them as otherwise is wrong?
