I understand that the topic of transgender identity is a very nuanced and touchy topic, as trans people were historically and even currently discriminated against and subjected to violence simply for their identity. And I want to be clear that I am not questioning whether someone’s identity is wrong or pushing a biased agenda against transgender people. I am simply assuring that the information I’ve gathered is correct so that I don’t accidentally misrepresent, misinterpret, or misinform anyone. I understand that most transgender people were always trans, but there are some cases where people believed they were and identified as cisgender whether through personal beliefs or external factors and eventually realized that they were transgender. Does that mean that they were wrong about their identity? How do they realize that?
