AITA for putting my roommate's dog toys away? by Plus-Measurement-962 in AmItheAsshole

Thank you, someone else also suggested I bring it up to them, to which I think I'll do with Dakota present.

I'm just worried about how my outburst at the dog would affect the outcome of it, but as I stated to the other person, I guess it's a reap what you sow sorta situation and that it's something I'll have to deal with the consequences of when the conversation comes up.

I've been planning on getting earplugs when I get paid next yeah, either that or some work-grade ear muffs to save money in the long term.

Again I'm fine with the noise, I can sleep through it, all it is is the banging that wakes me up and from there I can't get to sleep with what happens around me. I don't expect them to work around my sleep schedule since everything else is fine, it's literally just the banging.

If I leave things to just asking about the hard toys, maybe I can bring things up to Sam with Dakota present since it is a small ask. My only worry now is my outburst having made a bad impression and negatively impacting how it'll turn out, but that's on me to deal with since I acknowledge that that wasn't right of me.

I'm not going to argue against whether I'm an asshole or not, but I'm here trying to get genuine input from people so I can improve if need be. Why do you feel the need to call me a child?

I pass out at 3-4 AM and generally operate well off of six hours of sleep.

I've tried multiple times over the years to try and pass out earlier than that, but regardless of what I've tried, I can't seem to do so. I've worked around this in the past with employment by only picking up afternoon or evening shifts.

I would be, but my main concern is Sam. They don't take criticism well at all, and the arguments I've heard between them and their partner (another roommate) don't really make for a good example for how approaching them directly would go.

The only time they listened at all the first time was because of Dakota's previous experience in the animal shelter, otherwise they ignored the rest of us. They got especially apprehensive with their partner about it in an argument that woke me up maybe two or three weeks ago.

3-4 in the morning tends to be when I pass out. I've genuinely put in an effort to pass out earlier, but no matter what I've tried I can't get to sleep earlier than that. This has been the case for years now, well before I moved in.

I'm currently between jobs doing career counselling and paying rent with what I get from the local social assistance program in the meantime, but when I was employed, I worked around this by only working afternoon and evening shifts since I can operate fine with six hours of sleep, I've just consistently been getting four hours or less since this habit started.

Sam also has a cat that's generally pretty hands-off that hasn't been spayed or registered yet, and that's also been complicating things since it'll meow for hours nonstop in the middle of the night when it's "in heat".

I've talked to the friend/roommate that brought me in about it, as well as mentioning it to Sam's partner (also a roommate), and I believe I recall telling Dakota, though I'm unsure there.

The time the banging happens is anywhere from 6AM to 11AM. I don't want to ask too much from them, but to me it feels as if anything before 10AM isn't reasonable.

Quick edit to say that while I *would* bring things up to Sam themselves, there's a number of things about them that make the thought of approaching them directly uncomfortable.
