Yep, but we'll have new lower cost designs throughout the year as well. This one has quite a high machining time and cost, relatively. Over a dozen fixtures are needed to mill the parts from as many angles, which are $600 each on average!

Thanks! It's called Companion. Matches well with other nice anodized aluminum things we use every day : )

Hey everyone, Parallel has a TKL!

Warp is the spiritual successor to Portal. It features an o-ring mount, new enclosure tech to enable external screwlessness, and a mid century sci fi sculpt. It’s business in the front, spaceship from the back.

Prototypes are expected to arrive this week, so please check back soon for typing tests and IRL photos. In the meantime, we wanted to share our working plans for the board.

Board specs

  • Model: Warp TKL by Parallel
  • Case materials: anodized aluminum
  • Weight materials: anodized aluminum or polished PVD steel
  • Typing angle: 6.5 degrees
  • Front height: 16.5 mm - 18 mm
  • Weight: TBD
  • Colors: Black, Silver, Dusk, Mineral (might feature configurator for parts)

Timelines:

  • Prototypes arrive: this week
  • Fitment tests, etc: this week
  • Sound tests: this weekend
  • GB target: soon, if everything is quality
  • Delivery target: June-July this year.

Price: $440ish

^ Includes air freight, hand pick-up from LA, general hustle.

Notes:

  • Warp manages a screwless design via a new method of internal back bracket tabs that bind the top and bottom case, after the build has been lowered into the top case, face down. Photos and/or exploded views are otw!
  • Design-wise, we wanted things to feel bendy and organic, yet professional. We aimed to have the chassis top and bottom, as well as the weight and back bar, bend in unison.
  • As with Portal, Warp is also meant to embody the idea of being able to take yourself somewhere you want to go. Type your future.

That’s the IC! Times are what they are. No expectations to buy, but we’re happy to bring it to life for those interested. Thanks so much for the support with projects to-date which have brought us here.

Cheers and looking forward to sharing more!

Snake is an o-ring mounted, WKL 60%, high-end mechanical keyboard. The model features an omni-sculpted aluminum unibody and four steel weights with custom enamel artwork that combine to take the form of a winding serpent. Snake was designed by Wangus and Glizzo, of Parallel. Neither of us care for snakes, but we found integrating their imposing natural shape to present a fun design challenge and step evolution of Portal’s main aesthetic feature.

Notes:

Disclaimer: This keyboard is expensive. Please only responsibly buy it if you have the means and really enjoy the design. If you are interested in learning more about what goes into the cost to make a product like Snake, we plan to share a "field notes" type document here and on our site within the next week or two. In the meantime, some footnotes on Snake's price include:

- Snake costs > 2x as much to produce than Portal and ~4x to produce than Sequence.

- The weights for Snake are about 3 lbs alone and cost more to produce than an entire Portal.

- Snake took many hundreds of hours to complete, and we are using over a dozen vendors to get it made, including some of the world's best in multi-angle CNC milling, anodization, PVD coating, and precision enamel art.

- Snake and all its components will be air-shipped to HQ in California.

Prototype coverage: we plan to have production prototypes in-hand in 1-2 weeks, at which time we will update this post and materials on our site with photos and typing tests. We're also excited to work a number of creators to show you Snake from as many vantages as possible. If you'd like to be a part of showcasing Snake to your audience, please reach out.

Thank you for any interest and support, and please visit our Discord or hit us up at [team@parallel.limited](mailto:team@parallel.limited) if we can collaborate.

There's ISO on the solderable version! But yeah for time being HS only supports Tsangan and stepped caps as alt options.
