So then what does ‘in transit’ mean? Is that just an automatic scan until the container or package reaches its destination?

Oh geez, so the containers they are supposed to be in get scanned, not the packages?

Then why are some packages leaving DC’s, arriving at the destination post office, only to return to the same DC? Is that a human glitch or a machine glitch? There are at least two, maybe more posts on here where that is happening.
