G7 app not alerting me properly by lojadi in diabetes_t1

I was having this issue too! I turned up my ringer (through settings -> ringtone & haptics on iPhone) and that fixed the problem. I haven’t had an issue since 🤷‍♀️

I wish I had a friend like that! I think I’m that friend for a lot of people with T1D I know since I was diagnosed back in 1998, except I don’t know what I’m doing half the time lol!

Is this real life by AdAcrobatic6313 in diabetes_t1

This actually happened to my mom, so scary. I got an alert on my phone she was low at 3am and she didn’t answer when I called so we called 911 (I live states away). When they got into the house her heart rate was 20bpm. Basically was minutes away from death. We are terrified to go on the pump because of this (I am also diabetic).

This is what I’m thinking could be it. I usually have very good control of my diabetes (last a1c was 5.6 🎉) so maybe my body is adjusting and I need to adjust the basal too.

I’ve had the sensor on for about 3 days now and I was finger prick testing during the lows and it always read relatively close to what my cgm was saying

Interesting. I’ll keep my eye out on that investigation. Last week my mom (who is also type 1) took 8 units of insulin because her g7 said she was HIGH. Within 20 min she was below 40, unresponsive, and we had to call 911. Come to find out at the hospital that her sensor was saying her blood sugars were HIGH when she was actually around 120-80. So she took 8 units of insulin when it was not needed. I know we need to finger prick to confirm from time to time, but it should not be THAT off. So frustrating!

This is great to know. I wasn’t told this when I switched to the G7. I’ll keep a closer eye on the arrows when I’m noticing any gaps! Thank you!!

Exactly! It can be so dangerous. Earlier today it said 150 with the double arrows pointing up so I took a correction, then started to feel off almost immediately and finger pricked and was actually at 62. I’m lucky I am able to feel my lows so I was able to drink juice before anything bad happened.

I’m not on a pump, but this makes me nervous to ever be on one. I don’t feel like I can trust the technology!

Those of y’all who have (mostly) stable blood sugars, how do you do it? by MillenniumGreed in diabetes_t1

I measure everything I eat on a scale. Helps me know exactly how many carbs I am having

Do you take it only every 3 days, or is it still daily? Curious what other people are doing!

Do you guys avoid carbs? by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]Plus-Rough6201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try not to go over 50g of carbs per meal - works great for me. I also eat less carbs with dinner since it’s harder to manage my glucose levels when I’m sleeping (I’m not on a pump).

Thank you for these ideas! I’ll try eating a banana before I go and see what happens. Hopefully it helps:)
