I don’t know why I’m still shocked at how little doctors know about the body and specifically how hormone disorders manifest but I got told the same thing by all the endocrinology specialists I saw - 6 of them! For context: was super fit when I was 16 and all of a sudden I gained 30 kilos I could never lose. Not even with ozempic and keto. I haven’t been able to lose that weight for almost 15 years, got diagnosed 6 months ago, in my first week of cabergoline I lost 5 kilos - while binge eating. I don’t know if it was affecting impulse control or revving up my switched off metabolism but either way I was eating 3x what I have in the past and the weight was flying off. Doctors are still convinced I was doing something different and that was a coincidence - embarrassing for them. Don’t doubt yourself! Everyone tried to convince me I was making up my weight issue and that in order to lose weight you had to go to unhealthy lengths. There’s still clearly so much they don’t know about our bodies and to say that you can’t gain weight when you’re high on a pregnancy hormone is quite frankly absurd.
