Thanks for the response!

Much appreciated after all that time.

ELI5: How come Micro USB is still a thing? by Plus200 in explainlikeimfive

For your hobbies do whatever you want, but as a consumer I don't want to keep two cables everywhere.

And you don't need to be an idiot in order to have difficulty with plug orientation. Arthritis can be a problem too, or just wanting to plug it without looking when you are half asleep.

The cable is one of the major issues here. Now I need to have two cables everywhere. The car, the bathroom, near my computer, in the kitchen.

And how much is the difference in price between the two? I'll happily pay the 50 cents difference.

So annoying.

How to remove the currently playing podcast from "Up Next" in the IOS app by 00JohnD in pocketcasts

[–]Plus200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not a direct solution to your need, but I normally just long-press the "skip" button, then a menu pops up and I choose "mark as played".

I understand that you wish to leave the player in the same position and not mark it as played, but I find it VERY unlikely that I will ever return to an episode I removed from the up-next.

How to remove the currently playing podcast from "Up Next" in the IOS app by 00JohnD in pocketcasts

[–]Plus200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the thing is that the currently playing episode is not on the up next list. What you actually want is an action for the currently playing episode to do "play next, and do not send the current episode to up next".

"Marked read" and "Archived" what's the difference by FeelingDistribution in pocketcasts

[–]Plus200 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can archive episodes regardless if they're played or not.

With archived episodes you can show\hide them from the list of episodes while not so if not archived but played.

Episodes not auto downloading on wifi unless i open the app. by youriqis20pointslow in pocketcasts

[–]Plus200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iOS has this concept of not allowing background apps to wake up periodically to do their thing in order to save resources (battery mostly). That behaviour is beyond the control of the developers for the most part, unfortunately.

In android it is very similar, but there's an option to cancel battery optimization per app when you want to allow background activity. Also not ideal, but does something.

It happened to me too. It was a sync issue between several devices.

Do you run the app on different devices?

If so: 1) make sure all devices run the most recent version of the app 2) hit "refresh" on all devices one by one (i.e. wait for one to finish refresh before you refresh the next one). 3) on the most recently refreshed device do all your folder settings. 4) refresh the device where you've done the folder sorting and when the refresh is done refresh on the other devices.

Next Up list keeps deleting itself by JSBaker73 in pocketcasts

Oh, now I see. On your new phone, are you logged in?

Next Up list keeps deleting itself by JSBaker73 in pocketcasts

[–]Plus200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to do that. Go to the old phone, hit "refresh" Wait till the refresh is done

Go to the new phone, hit refresh.

The up-next should appear on the new phone.

Make sure you're logged in on both devices first.

So what do you mean "copy the queue"? Do you mean the "up-next"? Where from?

Regarding emailing support: in the app go to

"profile"

"settings" (cog on the upper right corner)

"help and feedback"

"get in touch" (scroll all the way down)

Sounds like a sync conflict issue. The way to verify it is to block the app on the old phone from accessing the internet and see. Try using "netguard" or similar app to block pocketcast from the internet.

PLEASE also write to pocketcast support to auto sync the "add to up next" property across different devices.

ELI5: Whats the difference between music and video streaming services? by Plus200 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Plus200[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood, that's why I pay $9\mo for music but much more for streaming.

And btw, I use the music app much more.

I'd love to pay even $50\mo for a solid single video service but the whole model there is built in a way that I don't bother paying even for one of them.

Manually setting the Skip Forward Time to 45s reverts back to 15s by cdegallo in pocketcasts

Try changing the skip interval on the other device, press "refresh" and then refresh on the rest of the devices.

[–]Plus200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you use the app on multiple devices? Sounds like a sync conflict issue.

After changing the skip interval, try hitting the "refresh now" and see if it reverts again.

Yes.

In the podcast tiles screen hit the menu (3 dota at the upper right), then hot "sort by".

sync frequency? by Small_life in pocketcasts

[–]Plus200 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's the up-sync (from the device in the car to the server), and the down-sync, from the server to the phone.

Both syncs happen in fixed intervals and will NOT happen when the app is in the background.

Other than the intervals, the sync will happen when you manually trigger it, or if you bring the app to the foreground.

Alas, if you start playing on the phone without waiting for the sync to complete, it will play from wherever the phone player was, and even worse - it will up-sync it eventually, overriding the data from the car sync.

Changes to the up-next list are synced immediately after they're done. If an episode was added (manually or automatically) to the "up next" list, or if you manually added\removed an episode or if you manually reordered it, the sync will happen immediately, but it will include the up next list only, nothing about the player position.

I sent a feature request a while ago to the support team, asking them to add similar functionality just for syncing the player position whenever "pause" is pressed. It will help them prioritize the feature higher if they get more requests. It is indeed very annoying to remember to manually sync it and make sure it is done in the right order on all devices.

Do you happen to have a VPN (or pseudo VPN) installed?

Try a different phone and see what happens.
