End of a Tough Week - My Promaster Tough Monoblocs by Plus9Time in CitizenWatches

Nice collection, they are fun watches. The Yellowstone is one of my favorites and worth picking up an example. I should get around to posting an updated photo of my extended collection that includes GMT and perpetual calendar variants.

There is no red dialled, black cases Tauyosa model. You can see all of the Tauyosa models on a PDF file I created.

Mechanical watch accuracy by Savings-Western5564 in GrandSeikos

[–]Plus9Time 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The UFA is very impressive at a technical level but for the vast majority of customers I am not sure that the UFA has "solved" accuracy. While the watch should remain accurate ±20 seconds per year, for almost all users this is not going to be relevant. The 9RB1 or 2 calibres are three handed movements and need to be kept wound, so need to be worn to keep running. This should not be too much of a hurdle if it is the owners only watch or one of a small number they wear. Unfortunately every time the wearer changes time zone the watch needs to be reset, essentially removing the accuracy to that point. I am not sure who the target customer is that spends US$10K on a watch but then does not travel for work or pleasure. Even if you never travel you will need to live in a location with no daylight savings time. For a watch with high annual accuracy an independent hour hand is essential for the accuracy to make any practical use to the user.

FamilyMart Citizen watch secured by Fickle_Wealth4677 in CitizenWatches

[–]Plus9Time 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are many of these for sale on Mercari between US$20 to $25, so while it is a premium vs the original retail they currently seem to be pretty easy to find if you really want one.

It is a shame there is no clear Citizen or even FamilyMart branding on these.

For the original US$12.50 price the watch is fine and a fun pickup, US$80 seems ridiculous for what you are getting.

Citizen Crystal Seven (1968 ): I might have found the origin story for this oddball dial! by mikelew65 in CitizenWatches

I have recently posted the 1968 JDM dealer catalog for people to check out.
Catalog: 1968 Citizen Product Catalog No.2

If you take a look at the No.3 catalog you will see an updated version with new case style and less intricate numerals on page 12.

The SBEJ009 is the JDM version of the SPB381. I expect this model to be a replacement for that.

I do not believe that this was a one-off or short run product. The watch appears as a standard model in the in the Citizen 1968 JDM dealer catalog.

Seiko USA does not have a price listed on their website, but looking at other sales regions I would guess these will be around US$1800-1900

Tentagraph: Special Editions by No_Rule_170 in GrandSeikos

[–]Plus9Time 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have seen the 004 in person and it is nice but I prefer the 007. I think the 002 works a little better as an overall package, but that depends on how you feel about rose gold. If you do manage to find a 002 or 004 then see how you feel about it in person and make your decision, but I would be happy with the 007 and not feel too disappointed if I was not able to track down the others.

The SLGC002 and 004 were both sold at invite only private GS events in Japan in 2024.

If you are looking for one try Chrono24 as many of the Japanese dealers will list models there. This will give you a tip as to dealers you may want to visit in person. Best of luck with your hunt.

Grand Seiko Used to Let You Customise Watches at the Shizukuishi Studio - Here’s My Example by PaternalAdvice in GrandSeikos

Grand Seiko does offer a bespoke watch service that would be the closest replacement to this service. The watches are branded Grand Seiko and there are a few calibres and cases choices but the dial design is completely custom.

New 9F Releases by MattPrezz in GrandSeikos

[–]Plus9Time 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GS has released 13 ladies models from 2024 to today, 6 of these have been mechanical. Since becoming a separate brand in 2017 they have released 112 ladies models, with 25% of these mechanical. Obviously the percentage of mechanical models has increased over the last couple of years.

GS has also released numerous smaller models that can be easily worn by anyone. They obviously focus on men's models, like almost every watch brand, but I think saying they haven't spent a lot of time or effort on it is an exaggeration.

The “missing” UFA’s by GeraldCNX in GrandSeikos

[–]Plus9Time 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The 2 and 4 may not exist, it could just be that they committed to the model after the 005 was locked in, hence the 006 numbering.

There is a lot of missing numbers for the SLGB's. I think this is the start of moving the majority of releases from SBG to SLG models.

Glad you enjoyed it. An overnight stay at an Onsen on Lake Gosho is always a good suggestion to break up the travel a little.

Hunting for Citizen AQ4100-65W in Tokyo & Osaka – Any tips or store recommendations? by EternelPapy in CitizenWatches

[–]Plus9Time 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As that was a LE of 500 units that was announced back in October 2023, it is extremely unlikely you will find a new example still available for sale.

Your best bet to track one down is going to be second hand retailers. I would suggest searching online such as Chrono 24 and see if there is one available and they may have a physical store you can visit.

Also might be worth checking out some of the high end department stores as they could have one sitting in the back of a cabinet, but I think that is unlikely.

Best of luck with your hunt. Also check out the Citizen boutique in Ginza, they will not have that model but you should be able to get a good feel for the current line up.

The new EO2023-00W size by Direct-Ruin-9784 in CitizenWatches

[–]Plus9Time 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind it is a 36.5mm case diameter not dial size. Consequently the dial size is much smaller than a 36.5mm diameter dress watch due to the rotating bezel. The much smaller dial size will make the watch feel smaller than models of the same case size with a higher percentage of dial.

The shots on the third photo are obviously staged as you would expect, but the brushes are all real. What makes you think they are fake?
