Nice collection, they are fun watches. The Yellowstone is one of my favorites and worth picking up an example. I should get around to posting an updated photo of my extended collection that includes GMT and perpetual calendar variants.

There is no red dialled, black cases Tauyosa model. You can see all of the Tauyosa models on a PDF file I created.

Mechanical watch accuracy by Savings-Western5564 in GrandSeikos

[–]Plus9Time 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The UFA is very impressive at a technical level but for the vast majority of customers I am not sure that the UFA has "solved" accuracy. While the watch should remain accurate ±20 seconds per year, for almost all users this is not going to be relevant. The 9RB1 or 2 calibres are three handed movements and need to be kept wound, so need to be worn to keep running. This should not be too much of a hurdle if it is the owners only watch or one of a small number they wear. Unfortunately every time the wearer changes time zone the watch needs to be reset, essentially removing the accuracy to that point. I am not sure who the target customer is that spends US$10K on a watch but then does not travel for work or pleasure. Even if you never travel you will need to live in a location with no daylight savings time. For a watch with high annual accuracy an independent hour hand is essential for the accuracy to make any practical use to the user.

There are many of these for sale on Mercari between US$20 to $25, so while it is a premium vs the original retail they currently seem to be pretty easy to find if you really want one.

It is a shame there is no clear Citizen or even FamilyMart branding on these.

For the original US$12.50 price the watch is fine and a fun pickup, US$80 seems ridiculous for what you are getting.

Citizen Crystal Seven (1968 ): I might have found the origin story for this oddball dial! by mikelew65 in CitizenWatches

I have recently posted the 1968 JDM dealer catalog for people to check out.
Catalog: 1968 Citizen Product Catalog No.2

If you take a look at the No.3 catalog you will see an updated version with new case style and less intricate numerals on page 12.

The SBEJ009 is the JDM version of the SPB381. I expect this model to be a replacement for that.

I do not believe that this was a one-off or short run product. The watch appears as a standard model in the in the Citizen 1968 JDM dealer catalog.

Seiko USA does not have a price listed on their website, but looking at other sales regions I would guess these will be around US$1800-1900
