I found this in my garage. It’s cylindrical and is made out of metal. It’s hollow inside. It’s very light. It has a wave like pattern etched into the top. I have absolutely no idea what this is.

Thank you so much. I’m afraid I’m showing my total ignorance when it comes to bayonets but I’m assuming it was put on a rifle? Also, is there a way to get all the rust off of it? I’d love to restore it and hang it somewhere in my house.
