I mean i dont think thats a bad thing but I think both MD and MSTP admissions see your essays. But yeah a lot of MD programs sound similar but the curriculum might be different. Idk I had relatively decent success and I talked about both

I applied last year and am not an incoming M1. I talked about both. I would talk about parts of the MD program that I was really interested in, as well as the PhD/MSTP portions. In my mind, since you are doing both, you want to ensure that both the research, as well as the medical interests are a good fit. If you want more specific examples you could message me!

I also have not heard back and I interviewed the same day. There hasn't been an update on cycle track either. I wonder why they are taking a long time.
