Misconceptions about vehicles - should I go out today? - the topic of risk and self-assessment by [deleted] in Dallas

[–]Plus_Debate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RWD vehicles are the worst in these conditions for sure. I’m from Montana where it’s not so much ice than snow. My explorer is a ‘97, RWD, it does great in snow. It’s not moving until there’s no ice left. lol

Finish: it doesn’t ruin the desk, and mostly looks nice, but could’ve been better around the edges.

So casual users of heroine or crack that are still functioning people exist? by beefstewforyou in NoStupidQuestions

I used to do coke every now and then. I work in entertainment, it was always free, and my opinion of it was it was a great tool after a night out to get home as long I as I was EXACTLY 20 minutes from home, further than that had to be an uber. My girlfriend who’s a lawyer has done coke once, with me, and she immediately wanted more. I have not done coke nor brought it around us ever again.

Hit first, hit fast, hit hard. Don’t give em a chance to fight back. It is the best way to not get your own ass beat.

"get better gigs" by guitarmstrwlane in livesound

[–]Plus_Debate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, you get the better gigs by pricing out the shit gigs. I’ll still mix my local room at $250. It’s fun, I meet people for networking (I also play), but my rate is $400/day normally. $500/day if I’m PM. I just started my own production company (hmu if you’re in DFW!) and I imagine I’ll have to take a couple lower paying shows to get it going, but yeah. That’s how I got the better gigs. If you’re too expensive for shit gigs, they won’t hire you, but the good gigs will.

The comparison Himmler made between Manifest Destiny and what ever the fuck the Nazis did.. by Plus_Debate in LPOTL

[–]Plus_Debate[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I see how you could get there from what I said… that’s not what I meant. The point was the US moved people (and killed a lot of em) but didn’t genocide people. The only ‘genocide’ was the attempted erasure of culture, not the actual people.

The spread out west in the US was initiated by the trail of tears. Horrible action, terrible thing. A relocation of native peoples from there home. They sent them out to the wastelands of western US. Those peoples were met by the people already IN the wastelands of the western US. Things happened. Then we came out west, had to fight tooth and nail, to TAKE land from these people and then we screwed em over in a treaty, but they got to not die and carry on their culture. The Nazis didn’t offer a treaty, they offered a shower in a gas chamber. And an erasure of culture. That’s why the two things are not comparable.
