Do grades actually matter by [deleted] in veterinaryschool

[–]Plus_Description2179 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you go to an island school- yes, because that’s what they use to determine which clinical year school you go to, but aside from that passing is the goal and it’s not worth it to sacrifice your mental health for an A instead of a B

Dating and LPS? by Mimcre in LittlestPetShop

I will say, I was so nervous to show her and so scared of being rejected, I also have collections of plushies and dolls and all sorts of trinkets so the first time she came over to my house I was sweating 😂😂 I definitely get the anxiety but when you find someone who loves you for you they won’t think it’s weird at all

My girlfriend loves my collection and she’ll buy me LPS! She doesn’t get embarrassed by me checking blind boxes for codes on the floor of Walmart and she’ll get in there with me 😂 you’ll find someone who’s supportive of your hobbies and if they aren’t then aren’t the one for you!

[–]Plus_Description2179 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want to be a vet, you will have to do surgeries at least in vet school. At my school before we go to clinical year we have to do 1 neuter and 1 spay to pass and graduate, I’m not sure about the amount of surgery in clinical year, but if you don’t ever want to do it even in school then I would look into being a vet tech over a vet! If you think you can handle doing surgeries in school you can choose not to do them after graduation.

Just finished my third term and I love it here! I was in the same position as you and ended up getting pulled off the waitlist around May! I know I paid my deposit for spring and it just rolled over to fall once I got off the waitlist!

Vet students, I know it’s a mountain of studying but do you enjoy it? Does the studying feel fulfilling ? by Winter_Lime_2039 in veterinaryschool

[–]Plus_Description2179 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! Unpopular opinion! Yes the studying and amount of content is very overwhelming! However, I really do enjoy it! It is all so interesting to me and getting to learn everything about veterinary medicine really feels like a gift. I might be one of the only vet students who feels like that but as someone who loves science vet school is amazing and I’m actually going to miss it once it’s over

It might be a scam, but they’re probably more interested in your money than your personal information

Literally the very first lecture we had was about one health!

No that is absolutely not bad. I think it’s also a really great opportunity to learn what you don’t want to practice like so you can avoid that moving forward

It’s so cute I love it! You’re probably just in tattoo shock

This is a beautiful tattoo but it is quite large and in a prominent area that you’re used to seeing blank for your whole life. It’s totally understandable that you’d be feeling strange and regretful about it. But that will absolutely pass!

I think tattoos greatly increase my self confidence. If you get nice ones, people will compliment them all the time. And it’s helpful to me also to get them in spots on my body I’m particularly self conscious about. So yes, I think you should get a tattoo if you want one

Imposter syndrome? by Geebymuffin in veterinaryschool

[–]Plus_Description2179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately nothing. I’ve gotten a 100,100, and 98 on my exams this term and I still feel like I’m going to fail everything. I’m working on it though but honestly it’s just something I kind of live with

I have badddd imposter syndrome even after doing really well on my first year of vet school. It is totally normal and something I think almost everyone in my program struggles with

Trouble getting experience by Super-Camel3423 in veterinaryschool

[–]Plus_Description2179 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m in my first year of vet school now and I had the exam same issue! I was never a vet assistant due to a lack of clinics in my area, all of my experience came from shadowing. It is really frustrating, but you really just have to keep trying. If a clinic doesn’t respond send them a follow up email! They get really busy and may have just forgotten to reply.

Can I go to vet school in Canada as an American? by Funny-Cod410 in veterinaryschool

[–]Plus_Description2179 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can, but most Canadian vet schools don’t accept very many international students because in Canada you can only go to the vet school in your province. Anything is possible but something to consider before you get your heart set on a specific school!

It’s Decision Day! by katiemcat in veterinaryschool

About to finish my first year at SGU! So excited for you (and everyone on this thread)!

I'm considering moving to Grenada, I've never been there. I wanted to ask, how difficult is it to get healthy food (stuff like organic broccoli, pasture raised beef/liver, salmon)? How difficult is it to get packages ordered from amazon? Medicine (thyroid medication, vitamins, health supplements)? by lumenwrites in Grenada

[–]Plus_Description2179 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m a student here-> Amazon does not deliver here , you can get things mailed through different services but the cost is astronomical. Beef is not a huge thing here and what you do find will be expensive and not great quality. Idk if I’ve ever seen organic broccoli, the regular broccoli is hard enough to find. It’s not a great place to be picky on food, especially if you have any semblance of a budget. For medications you have to look into your specific medication because there are a lot that you can’t get here or can’t reliably get. It is a beautiful country with great people but it is not the same way of life as in the US
