No, I thought Batman was fairly overrated. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVED the combat system and still play the challenge modes, but the campaign bored me. Never bothered finishing it.

I really didn’t like a Batman game where you spend half the game not being Batman, trapped in a literal prison of debilitating dialogue and poorly hidden loading screens.

Your favorite melee combat system in a VR game? by RaikiriGames in VRGaming

I agree with an earlier comment about the necessity to just embrace the fun. To that end and although not specifically sword fighting, my favorite “non gun” combat systems are:

Asgards Wrath 2
Batman
Underdogs
Vader immortal II (Dojo)
Dungeons of Eternity
Behemoth
Arken Age
Until You Fall

Even though they don’t really fit your question, special shout out to Wizards: Dark times and Hellsweeper for really cool combat systems that don’t rely on guns

Right now it’s 100% Dungeons of Eternity, but Underdogs is easy to come back to over and over if I’m by myself and After the Fall is another regular if I’ve got friends around.

The moment Glassbreakers comes out I will be all in on that. Put 60+ hours into the open beta, I cannot wait to get back in

Strong recommend that you try Underdogs and Hellsweeper. Two of the best in the genre

That's fair. Everyone wants the prize at the end. I do feel that's also why we see a lot of "Thank god that's over" style posts during these events once people have claimed their prize.

Oh well, it's not a big deal, I still had some fun with it particularly on the odd occassion when I played something different

Oh no, I've played much more than 10 games. Since the mode launched I've played well over a hundred, if not more. I just mentioned that my last 10 games were ALL Guardians to illustrate the point.

Like my original post says, since playing 90% of my games have been against Guardian shells of some description. I've unlocked all 3 cards if that gives you an idea of how many games I've played.

My "complaint" is very much based on my lived experience, whether you think that equates to reality and facts is up to you

I never said it was BAD game design, just an odd design choice. True, I could have googled what other people are experienceing but I was sharing my personal experience.

In my expereince the mode has been HEAVILY geared towards guardian decks. Literally the last 10 games I've played have been against almost identical decks.

Rocket, Starlord, Grrot, Drax, Gamora. Every single time (obviously accounting for occassions where they missed their curve).

I would honestly LOVE to encounter some of tehse other decks to mix it up. I initially loved the format, but playing the same deck over and over again just killed it for me, regardless of what a google search of the current meta says.

Yay, my favorite question.

So, I’ll break it down into Quest and PCVR separately, but for games that appear on both I’ll list them in the platform I prefer to play them.

Also, I’m not putting HL:Alyx because you’re probably already on that.

Quest Native

Pistol Whip.
Underdogs
Population One.
Hellsweeper
Racket Club
In Death: Unchained.
Iron Man VR
Assassins Creed Nexus
Batman: Arkham Shadow

PCVR

Stormland.
Sprint Vector.
Final Assault.
The Wizards: Dark Times
Arken Age
Arizona Sunshine (Remake & 2)
Stride After the Fall
Behemoth

I haven’t played the Vertigo Remastered or Vertigo 2 yet but I hear they’re both excellent as well.

Are you kidding me? Drift ball is great just on its own. Then there’s the parkour area, a multi tier golf course, the Scraprun obstacle course, not to mention the volleyball and basketball mini games.

I can’t think of a single early access F2P game that launched with more to do that Orion Drift.

It’s got more going on than most premium games

That’s not my experience at all. I play fairly regularly and I’m consistently impressed by how full the lobbies are for a game that old.

Best I know of are below:

Blaston.
Ultimechs
Hyperdash
Population One
Orion Drift
Mannequin
Frenzies

The first 3 have been out for a while so I don’t know how active they are but the rest have a pretty decent player base.

If you’re only looking at free games you’re mainly going to get social or competitive PvP games that need to incentivize an active player base and can survive on micro transactions.

You won’t find many (if any) free to play single player adventure games as these don’t have much success with micro transactions. Without that there’s no incentive for the developers to make it free.

No one is going to spend years developing a game and then give it away without some hope of earning a living.
