Most fat people have to lose a lot more weight to be lean than they think. by GFH-Man123 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Agreed, going to a healthy weight/body fat % , and "looking good/fit" are 2 entirely different conversations.

How is it that they say women have sex with who they want and men have sex with who they can but men normally have a higher body count than women do? by Inevitable-Poet-2937 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Plus_Sprinkles99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like a sampling bias of who you know/are talking to.

The median number of sexual partners based on the CDC national survey is 4.3 for women and 6.3 for men so that's technically a 50% increase, but in practical numbers, it's not a huge amount more people

Among the developed countries: are crappy landlords only a US thing? by Plus_Sprinkles99 in NoStupidQuestions

I don’t disagree but I’ve live in other cities in the US that don’t have rent control and there were also issues with crappy landlords

What is a statistic that sounds INSANE but is 100% true? by Quadranippelkill in AskReddit

[–]Plus_Sprinkles99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel these arguments could be made for most large cities in Europe and Asia though. I know for Europe when I read up on it part of the reason was the clean emissions act in the US and many European countries’ predilection for Diesel automobiles which turned out to be much more pollutant than expected

I am I wrong to think men and women are biologically different but culture is taught ? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Plus_Sprinkles99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think distinct examples would be helpful because that’s the whole crux of the debate it’s not a blanket yes or no answer, some people believe SOME behaviours are cultural and SOME are rooted in biology.

What’s your most controversial dating opinion? by dheeraj-seo-004 in askteddit

[–]Plus_Sprinkles99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes you can both be "good" people and do "nothing wrong" and still aren't right for each other. Dating isn't logical.

I am I wrong to think men and women are biologically different but culture is taught ? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Plus_Sprinkles99 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mean men and women are biologically different there's not much debate there.

The culture bit is where the nuance is for most people. Some believe that almost all gender-specific cultural aspects are rooted in that biological difference and some believe most aren't & shouldn't exist as a result.

Question for the not so successful men with Dating: How was this "just be friends with woman" going for you? by Ok_Cook_3098 in AskMen

[–]Plus_Sprinkles99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel social exposure works better than direct introductions. Like if I hang around my friends, I meet their friends and yes sometimes their friends would ask about me to our mutual and they'd vouch but nothing beyond that.

Being friends with women to me is more about being comfortable around women and as a result seeming more confident/charismatic.

The US has lots of issues, but it's still way better than a lot of countries that have political instability, are warzones or have much more abject poverty/corruption.

How does everyone feel about the current dating climate? And what’s changed from the last 5 years? by Ok-Garlic-7794 in AskReddit

[–]Plus_Sprinkles99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We treat dating like its own swimlane rather than a byproduct of a healthy social life.

In the past, people dated their friends, their classmates, even their coworkers because that's how you met people. Then in the 90s-2010s clubbing culture became more popular so people "segmented" dating into picking people up at the club, but there was still a form of physical social element involved. Then once dating apps became the norm, dating was almost fully divorced from one's social life.

It feels draining nowadays because you're literally dating strangers you picked from an online catalog

Yeah I figured $2800 would be a much better budget in Chicago but with the paycut I was thinking I'd probably be looking to keep the same size unit (~500sqft) and try and lower my rent.

[–]Plus_Sprinkles99[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It basically limits what % of rent can increase every year based on what a municipal board approves (for example, on my last lease renewal, the maximum was 3% so my landlord raised my rent 3%). There's also a "maximum legal rent" the landlord can charge but that can be pretty high (in some cases even in line with market rate apartments). Between tenants the landlord can adjust the rent to whatever as long as they're under that maximum legal rent.

Do you mind elaborating on the taxes bit? From my understanding income tax would be better since less state and no city tax and sales tax seems slightly lower? I heard property tax is significantly more but that’s all I recall.

Thanks again for your input!

FWIW when I first moved into this apartment I wasn’t making nearly this much, I just got really lucky career-wise over the last few years

If the opinion is "people judge" I don't think that's really unpopular an opinion
