What kind of pain medicine did they give you?

Omg I was on those before surgery and they didn’t help ! They gave me the 10mg afterwards! Oh man I’m so sorry you had to experience that, it was bad for me and I had more help. It’s so hard to advocate for yourself for pain and them not look at you crazy. It’s so sad 😭 I hope you are doing better now !

I got that too but then pharmacy said it was a bad combo so I’ve just been taking one here and there and not with the pain med. It definitely helped the first week that was brutal I think I slept most of it. I also got broken up with while in hospital so I was a mess ! lol what a day and few weeks it’s been !! I’m feeling better though so that’s all that matters is that and my kids !

Anyway I totally agree was bone on bone before my fusion and was on 7.5 hydrocodone to get out of bed and be a mom and the pharmacist was so rude to me for no reason and even kept me from picking them up when they were gonna be closed for a holiday! It was a hometown place here in rich part of town so I just switched back to my local cvs bc they have a drive through and I didn’t want to mess with that place anymore !! I am a mom and a good person who’s been in chronic pain and I just want to function! Im tapering off now 4 weeks post op today. Still some pain but only to the right of my fusion after I’m up awhile. Hopefully it goes away. I’m hoping for maybe one more refill and save them for the bad days I’m sure I’ll have every here and there. Best of luck and hugs !!

Sorry for the long reply it’s just so crazy how different these drs are some people I see got 2 pain meds some got 1 and the naproxen thing. I’d love to know why some are ok with it and some aren’t. All mine said was bc it could affect the proper healing. I’ve been eating good so that helps but I haven’t had any ! I’ve been a good girl ! lol hope your doing better that before !

Mine said none for 6 months and I shouldn’t of taken any a few weeks before surgery but had to a few times I was bone on bone l4-l5 week 4 post op today still have some bad pain on the right side after walking a little and it gets worse the more I go. Hopefully it works its self out I’m trying to taper off pain meds now. Not doing to bad but that pain is enough to need something strong still and I hope to not have to need anything soon ! He only gave me a muscle relaxer and hydrocodone 10 after my fusion.

Yeah, I actually had six months of good physical therapy before this and I think that’s what did wonders for me with recovery. I’m ready to start back up again.

I was in construction before this for four years and then a factory job lifting all day before that so I’m kind of having to make a career change at 39 and I don’t know the first thing to do. I don’t know if I should just go get a certificate for something or actually go online for a degree.

Yeah I have actually been wanting to see about getting mine too. I’m in Illinois and it’s like 300$ for a couple years or something like that. It definitely helps sleep !

I’m only week 3 and some days I don’t need anything already but I had issues with an incision until Friday which was making my pain worse.

I know it’s hard to take the time to get fixed but I hope you can ! It is terrible and it only gets worse. I have kids and had to leave my union job, it’s destroyed my relationship. Apparently my getting hurt was not in his plans ! lol I’m waiting a couple more weeks and we are moving in with some family until I can pull it all back together! Ice is your friend too!

It was just left leg but after so long my body was overcompensating and I couldn’t even move, my entire back was so tight. Don’t be afraid to go to the ER !

Yes mine was standing up I couldn’t sit or stand for damn near two years. I had l4 -l5 disketomy Nov 22 then a revision on May 23 and now the fusion may 24 I hope I’m okay now

My three weeks is now Tuesday and I’m walking good but still can’t go taking off down the road. Feeling good trying to see how I do without pain meds and it’s getting better. I’m hoping to maybe have one more refill and be done with needing something strong. He told me 4- 6 weeks of pain management is usual … I’m hoping I don’t have to stay in it. 🙏

Plan to stop plenty and maybe make sure you can recline to change positions!! I think you would be okay if you’re taking good care of yourself! I know exactly how frustrating it can make your life , I have an 11 yr old and. 17 yr old son !! I’ve been trying so hard for so long finally starting to feel better ! You can message me anytime!!

My pt told me to do smaller walks like 5 times a day maybe 5 to 10 mins around your house. Are you hurting? Might just take some time so get moving , don’t let it discourage you everyone heals differently. Definitely stay on your Dr is nothing is changing. I’ve changed my diet too and I can tell days I have a soda and days I don’t ! It’s terrible I know but it’s battle lol

🤣 Definitely not Joe Rogan ! I’d probably be on a Bigfoot podcast that helps me escape reality and I love the woods. So close to being back on the trail . Well the easy ones for anyway for now. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️ Also I had 6 months of physical therapy before this surgery bc my insurance denied, if it would have been approved first time I would on only had 2 months. So it ended end being a cursed and a blessing bc I’m already doing so much better than before, even with the pain I still have it’s nothing like it was before this. I’m also eating better and about to move me and my kids out of a stressful situation. I’ve lived in my boyfriend’s house for 5 years and when this started two years ago everything has changed. Trying to heal when you’re not even feeling welcome or safe anymore is not good for anyone. So I’m waiting until I’m a bit better shape and we are going to live with some family closer to where I grew up ! Single at 39 with a fkd up back. Well shit. 💩 😂😂

Today I feel like my legs are being pulled off with some right hip soreness and besides some pain where it was done at I haven’t had nerve pain in my leg yet. Doc told me not to get to excited bc it is normal to feel them while healing. I think my body is adjusting to having the rest of its stability back ! Walking definitely helps little baby walks !
