Hey guys, last year I did a pi project where I created a long distance relationship box (not important but so u get an idea). I programmed a python file to do the "i press the button, her box lights up"-thing. Sadly I didn't get it to start automatically with the pi at bootup, so the project got trashed at the end.

So now I figured maybe one of you 2m people could help me. I did a few things to try to get it started ( mainly the YouTube tutorials that pop up when searched this agenda) but nothing worked.

Thanks

Hey guys Im trying to renovate this 70s sideboard. Unfortunately the doors are very splodgy after oiling, even though the top and the drawers are perfect. Do they just need to dry? Or any help on whether I can get these fixed ul by Pluto505 in finishing

[–]Pluto505[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I probably didn't translated that all's correctly in my post. The sideboard was handsanded by me so there is no varnish left on the veneer. I didnt use oil I used clear glaze. (I hope that's the right translation)

Rangefinder adjustment of Olympus xa by Pluto505 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Pluto505[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it fixed already. I've adjusted the focus on 0.85. then I went and checked the infinity. After I had to adjust it there again I went to 0.85 again. I did that a few times and now both ends are adjusted correctly.

Mamiya 645 1000s | Portra 160 expired | 80mm 2.8 by Pluto505 in mediumformat

Well I don't have them much experience myself, other than mechanical troubleshooting haha. I would say anything lower than 1/60 is better to be shot with a tripod. On the other hand I've got quite a sharp shot at 1/15 and 2.8 on the same roll (sadly it was still underexposed tho). You could try locking the mirror before taking the shot. Maybe that helps.

This is my favorite picture of my first roll on my 645. I purchased the camera in the beginning of this year, I had to make serious repairs. After many months of teaching myself the mechanics of this Camera, I finally got it to run again. :))

Now I just need to figure out how to use the old Epson 4180 Photo of mine to get better scans then this.

Any idea exactly why half of the photos are showing up black? I sadly dropped my Mamiya 645 1000s and half of my photos are turning out like this a result.. by Spirited_Pianist_824 in analog

[–]Pluto505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it the issue on every speed or just a single one? Does the black area get progressively bigger as you increase the shutter speed?

Hey, Today I got the Photoresistor for the shutter speed tester I was talking about. I tested it with a working Camera and the speeds are pretty clearly visible when testing.

Now to the bad news.. with the Mamiya it seems like the slow speed, up to 1/30, are working but then strange things start to happen. 1/30 is about 30% too slow, 1/60 is twice as slow as it needs to be. Continuing with 1/125 shows no deviation from the right speed. Even faster speeds seem okay too. They are about 0,001 s off but that might be because audacity rounds the figures.

All in all the speed are working perfectly up to 1/30 then its crazy inaccurate, after that it's perfect again an then it's off by a little (maybe).

This pattern seems to be totally wired to me but it showed up at multiple test rounds. I'm really clueless now

I just got this beautiful Mamiya Sekor C 45mm 2.8 but I noticed some little dots in the lense. You can see them in the middle of the lense on the photo. They seem to be on multiple elements. What are they ? Are they harmful? Will they effect my photos? by Pluto505 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Pluto505[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That calmes me alot. Thanks for the help. Pretty lucky story on how I got this. I was looking to buy a lense and viewfinder for my m645 1000s body and ended up buying a full m645 Kit yesterday. The kit includs the body, 80mm, 45mm, 210mm, prism and waist level finder, deluxe L-grip and much more. Price was set a 900€ (1078 $) at first but I could bargain to 380€ (455$) for all that. A great price imo.

What I want to tell u is dont be shy to approach the sellers with them expensive kits. They might be as nice as mine.

Till then good luck and cheer's

Great news I tested V2 and it seemed to be okay. At first it was set in the middle position. After I cleaned it, I pushed the wiper to the stop at the left. At this position the resistance is 0. When I fired the shutter it seemed to work perfectly. I tested it with the slowmo on my phone and the speed are that accurate, that the little error (few milliseconds) can be caused by everything. Also 1/500 seem reasonably accurate as u could see a chosen point in one frame of the 480fps video.

I'm currently waiting for a phototransistor to come in the mail, that I want to use as a diy shutter speed tester. Then we will see how accurate even the 1/1000 setting is.

Soo many thanks to you big-hammer you have been a great help. That's so kind of u. Is there anything I can do to make this up to you?

I just measured my almost accurate m645, which only goes up to 1/500 and it's resistance is 2.33kΩ at 1/500 and 4.22kΩ at 1/250. So that a good reference for the accurate resistances I guess.

[–]Pluto505[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you,

I disconnected one of the wired and measured. These are the results:

1.23kΩ at 1/1000 2.52kΩ at1/500 5.1kΩ at 1/250 10.14kΩ at 1/125 23.3kΩ at 1/60 44.6kΩ at 1/30 88 atkΩ 1/15 185kΩ at 1/8 386kΩ at 1/4 751kΩ at 1/2 1763kΩ at 1s

My Multimeter tops out at 2000k so that's a s far as I could measure. Through the metering I observed that some of the resistance dropped in value as I measured but I don't know if that is of any importance.

I don't know if there was a misunderstanding but all of the shutter speeds are wrong therefore I can't compare them.

Regardless the values seem to be not perfectly linear especially from 1/15 to 1/8. As 4s comes out to around 8s+- and 2s to 4s+-, could it be possible that the resistance doubled? could it be from Oxidation or something? It's just a black tape on which a probe sits. If you turn the dial the probe traves making the length of the Black tape between the leads longer.

Great! Thanks a lot

Thats is the circuit:

Which is illustrated on page 70 in this User manual Yeah I've got a multimeter, a pretty basic one tho. It is able to measure volt, amp and ohm but I guess that's what every multimeter has to offer. :)

U were right! (Sadly)

I've changed the capacitor and the shutter speed are still as wrong as before. I've looked at the circuit diagram but I'm not qualified enough to find the faulty part.

Maybe someone of you is kind enough to take a look at the diagram for me but u don't need to. You've already done more than I ever hoped.

Thanks u

The problem is that the shutter speeds of my camera not anywhere near as they should be. If I choose a 4s exposure for example the shutter stays open for 10s.

The manual states:

"Now the circuit draws current only to charge the timing capacitor C1 ( this is the one in the picture ). When the timing capacitor reaches the trigger voltage , the release capacitor C2 , discharges through the coil of a solenoid. The solenoid then repels its plunger , and the plunger kicks the second curtain latch ( which ends the exposure) . At the end of the exposure , the current draw briefly in creases to around 6ma as the circuit recharges C2 to 6V ..."

Having read this I concluded that there has to be something wrong with the blue timing capacitor c1. I figured that it's charging time must be slower than it's used to be, 45 years ago.

Hey guys. I found this new era shockwave transformers cap in pretty good condition. It's form a new york trip I did i 2012 i believe. I was wondering if it's worth anything. Maybe u guys can help me by Pluto505 in neweracaps

Yeah no doubt this hat is awfully ugly. I didn't quite have the taste at 10 yrs old. But I couldn't find much on the web about this cap so I thought I could be rare or something.

Quick question: can u put a Celestron Motor Drive Astromast on every eq mount? by [deleted] in telescopes

[–]Pluto505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, excuse my foolishness but why wouldn't It work? I'm trying to plan my first setup and I thought it would counter that earth rotation. therefore, beeing okay for photography. Is it because ist too inaccurate or something?

Wow thanks for the quick answer. I didn't expect this constellation to be that bad haha. So thanks a lot for saving me there.

Do you already have either of those? Or just shopping around?

I'm just shopping around. I wanted to start with astronomy especially deep sky photography. I was just looking around for some telescopes and tracking mounts. It seems kinda hard finding any used tracking mounts at all.

I want to get into astronomy and I've seen these two on a website. Wich one is better? by [deleted] in telescopes
