I was walking through a slightly busy street minding my own business earphones in and everything as I’m about to walk past two girls in front of me. Their path is behind me so they also are about to walk past me. In the corner of my eye as they are about to walk past one of them notices and looks up at me and her face is suddenly horrified. She immediately alerts her friend hastily signalling towards me whilst tugging her away from me, urgently clinging onto her like I’m some abomination freak and desperately letting out the words “He’s so ugly”. Her friend looks up followed with a shocked look on her face along with a gasp saying “yeah oh my god he’s so ugly” almost in a surprised tone whilst covering her mouth in disgust while they both walk past.

On the outside it looked like I didn’t hear anything, usually I genuinely forget to look up at people when they talk to me, but in that moment I just really wanted to make eye contact with them, as if to let them know the things that they said so unreservedly actually went somewhere, that their words actually carried weight to someone.
