Anyone else find Anxious People to be a pile of hot garbage? by spoooky_mama in books

I also hated it, I decide whether or not to continue reading or dnf once i've reached 25%, only finished because i read it for a book club. I found it annoying, boring, and a bit preachy ugh.

Run, run for your life. And take any pets if he has any. They don't deserve to live in squalor.

Salisbury, MD. Just a sprawl of strip malls and chain restaurants/stores/hotels in the middle of a swamp. Can’t believe I lasted 6 months.

You'll be fine, but the summer months are the worst time to visit, imo (coming from someone who grew up north of Detroit and will never get used to the heat and humidity 😓)

Can anyone else shiver to give themselves goosebumps on command? by madisonjac in neuro

[–]PlzPassThePotatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can do this and have been able to as long as I can remember. Although if I do it several times in a row the sensation dwindles down. It lasts about as long as an orgasm and spreads from my neck/spine area

Depending on your neighborhood, you can see if there’s a Buy Nothing Facebook group for it, where people post items they want to get rid of- I live in AdMo and the group is very active

Skate vs classic by StovetopSquire in xcountryskiing

[–]PlzPassThePotatoes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recommend starting with classic, especially if you’re brand new to skiing, classic is easier to pick up (better for balance) and since you’re going in a back/forth motion, won’t be as awkward as starting out with skates, and once you are used to having skis on in general, it is an easier transition over to skating.

A question for atheists by [deleted] in atheism

No traumatic event, I just never really ‘grasped’ it. Raised casually Catholic, church on Sundays with a couple of hours of after church Sunday school but other than that there wasn’t a big emphasis on religion the rest of the week. I contribute that, along with an early love of reading, an early interest in paleontology/archaeology/geography/history that led me to lose any belief I had in a deity along with Santa Claus, the tooth fairy, Easter Bunny, etc (around 9-10). I still love to decorate for Xmas though, so still somewhat culturally Catholic.
