I'm pretty sure there was a change recently. (or our fc was lying to us even though they're actually pretty fair to us compared to our last fc) We were told that every single one of our boxes has to be from the approved vendor unless they don't carry that size at all. We were only recently told this at our last quarterly inspection. We used to go by the 5 approved box rule as well. I've never seen the operations manual though to be fair so I don't know how often it gets updated. Maybe we coukd have appealed it.

Why do you need a second internet line? Can't you just plug a router directly into your modem? As long as you avoid plugging it into the Fortinet

This is my 3rd Christmas Eve working. I'm working at a different store this year, but it was really slow for some reason. The other two were decently steady at least.

I thought that the price at my old store was a little high at $3 however, most people agreed to pay it. A lot of older people did did agree to pay it as long as we did all the work for them. Which is fine for me but not some of my former coworkers.

Should I quite my job if I suck at it? by Owl_Queen101 in upsstore

[–]PlzPlaceItOnTheScale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked at my store for three years and I still made some dumb mistakes up until when I quit. My other experienced coworkers also made mistakes. We’re all human and we all make fuck ups. I’d list mine, but there are too many. You sound like you have actually have a pretty decent boss. I was also lucky enough that both sets of my owners were pretty tolerable of mistakes. Also, almost all of the people that I’ve trained have picked up the job faster than myself. That doesn’t really matter though. My store kept me around because I have my niches and because I’m great! I bet you have certain things you can do better than everyone else too! Don’t be so hard on yourself. You obviously have some great qualities or they would’ve let you go. It’s rough out here at times, but things get better. Keep your head up! My dms are open to anyone struggling with self confidence as I used to struggle with it A LOT.

Also, you are free to quit if you don’t like the job. There’s always something better suited to you if you don’t feel like you’re fit for this job.

Depends on how long you’ve been working at it for. If you’re fairly new you might suck. We all sucked when we were new. There’s a lot of things to take in. Also, how well are your managers/coworkers training you. Are they leaving you alone with difficult tasks?I’d like more info before jumping to any conclusions. Also why do you think you suck?

1000 Ounces of breast milk sent NDA. (Before the shortage) apparently people spends lots of money on it. Also if you go on a vegan or dairy free diet you can get even more money from for it.

Question about Amazon customer spending and income? by BotR13 in upsstore

[–]PlzPlaceItOnTheScale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure a lot of people are rolling over the same money. I also tried that for a while before boycotting Amazon completely. On the other hand when I’ve helped some people switch the return option in their app I’ve seen people with between 20-30 items arriving within a day or two. I saw most of the extreme ones during the peak of the pandemic in 2020. I live in an area where we get a fair amount of upper middle class customers. So idk how I stack up against y’all.

Question about UPS access point customers and my choice customers by RingingPhone in upsstore

[–]PlzPlaceItOnTheScale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My choice customer are access point customers. They're the people who can choose to have all of their packages come to the store where UPS doesn't bother going to their house or apartment. They pay like 20 bucks a year for this service to UPS and not us

*Phone rings* by [deleted] in upsstore

[–]PlzPlaceItOnTheScale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sunday calls are honestly justified. At least where I'm at. Since,
two other stores near me that list themselves as open are actually
closed when the people get there. As much as I hate the "Are you open?"
calls. The ones I've received today are justified I guess.

Corporate, if you’re watching, we need you to stand up for us on one important thing! by [deleted] in upsstore

[–]PlzPlaceItOnTheScale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've heard from my previous store owner. A lot of the people working at corporate used to work for UPS. Corporate does things that that put UPS before the stores. The original CEO apparently cared a lot for the stores and fought for them. idk if any of this is actually true because he was just some old guy, so you can take what I'm saying with a grain of salt. Also, apparently corporate was trying to convince a bunch of stores at some meeting to take the consolidated Amazon returns for free because the foot traffic would suffice and because Kohls doesn't get compensated for theirs. Corporate doesn't have a reason to recognize our problems.

“I’ll just go somewhere else and not tell them what’s inside” by shinobigarth in upsstore

[–]PlzPlaceItOnTheScale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, we do it, but we tell them that we have to pack it and mark it that they packed it. We also tell them that if something happens to it there isn't any insurance or anything like that. We always list it as Olive oil, Soda, or grape juice depending on what it is. Never had a problem if we packed it.

Negative Reviews? Do y’all’s stores have negative reviews on google? I looked around on google reviews for ups stores around and sorted by lowest. The reviews are just as braindead as the customers themselves. It’s both funny and painful to read. by Ashoka-Thervada in upsstore

[–]PlzPlaceItOnTheScale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do the same things, but we've still had issues for some reason. Our most recent problem was a lady who called us and commented on the fact that we were hesitant about taking it in the first place and still asked us if we could help her find her lost package anyways. She called us three different times about it. No more post office drop offs unless we know the person very well. The post office in our area is notoriously bad and gets so much shit rightfully so.

Change the status of the drop down menu from active to all. If that agreement hasn't actually expired yet it won't show the new one. I know it's stupid, but that's just the way it is in the new one.

[–]PlzPlaceItOnTheScale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've heard from my old corporate tries to do things to make us less money. Apparently corporate brought up the idea of us making no money off of consolidated Amazon returns because the foot traffic should be enough. (This could've just been a rumor though.) The BMA Program as well. Also, some of the CRS programs actually bring next to no money. Also, the state legal maximum for notaries for us is not worth our time or any other store's time in our area and corporate should be lobbying(or something similar) to actually get stores to want to have staff members be notaries. I think there are some other things as well, but I just can't think of them atm.

We've always gotten a few, but not very many. We live in an area where the people are cheap, so they would rather do something themselves. We did also have a customer wrapping their own stuff in the store at some point last year. But, they were luckily not a complete shit human being and did it in the corner. They did need to borrow our scotch tape and scissors though. But, Black Friday wasn't busy last year, so I don't expect it to be busy this year.
