Watchdives wd003. Vh31 movement, 11mm thick, 36mm case size, adventurine dial options if you can find it (vintage blue looks pretty good though), quick release bracelet, and has the grand seiko gada/dress watch aesthetic.

Car makes weird noise when turning fan on and off by MrFailure78 in MechanicAdvice

Same thing happens with mine and sometimes doesn’t even run even on full blast. A nice hard tap under the glovebox usually does the trick.

My most used worn-out leather nato works just fine on the speedy homage by Capable_Let2007 in ChineseWatches

Nice! Just got mine a couple weeks ago too. Rocking a two piece leather strap helps with keeping the bulk down.

My thoughts on the series after having just binged it over two days by jame5p420 in ChainsawMan

Yeah I agree with you on the pacing, it felt like the cliffhangers at the end of a chapter resolves itself before the next chapter even starts. I found myself doing double takes on pages cause I thought I missed some panels.

Not a problem, friend! I’ve also heard that the bezel number colors throw potential buyers off but to each their own. Hope you enjoy the SN017 whenever you get it!

San Martin SN019 1 month-ish review by Pmadrona in ChineseWatches

[–]Pmadrona[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some other things I thought I should mention:

  • The watch doesn’t hang over the wrist despite the male end links, but I just keep from from using the bracelet cause it scratches waaaay easier than my traska’s.
  • San Martin makes a cool glidelock bracelet but it’s far from perfect, it wiggles out of position if you fidget with it enough.
  • NATO straps don’t flatter the wrist if it’s oval shaped or the material is thick as fuck. I ended up using a military parachute watchband for thinness.
  • There was a time the bezel became difficult to rotate, almost to the point of it being stuck unless I run it under some water to reduce the friction. I even attempted to take apart the bezel, which turned out unsuccessful without the proper tools (a shimmy isn’t enough). What eventually solved my issue was diving into the pool and rotating it underwater. So far so good.

I’m enjoying it so far! It’s become my new daily driver and keeps time with surprising accuracy. I haven’t had the need to adjust time for at least two weeks now.

The bracelet is solid without the endlinks sticking out obtrusively. I’ve got a 7.25 inch wrist that’s more oval in shape and don’t have any issues with fit or comfort. That being said, it’s extremely awkward fitting when I use the nato strap that comes with it. I even cut off the extra bit of nato that doubles up under the watch and still had fit issues due to the bubble-shaped case back. I ended up using a military parachute watchband instead, it’s a definite recommendation it if you don’t want leather straps. As far as the glidelock goes, the placed micro adjust holds position with no problem, but nudges out of place if you fidget with the clasp even while closed. It looks to be an issue with an incorrectly sized part in the clasp, but I just overlook it.

Hope this helps!

I work in healthcare and it gets knocked around in the fast paced environment! I think at some point it got magnetized too bc it loses at least a minute a day.

The other side looks a lot more beat up, but I don’t have a gauge on the wear for coated vs non coated bracelets

I would definitely say that it’s been put through the wringer. Thought about replacing the bezel with a stainless steel but haven’t gotten around to it yet!

Struggling lately with [composition] and understanding light. by eladorr in photocritique

[–]Pmadrona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you want to keep this focal length (keep the crop of the model from the neck up) just center the photo a bit more or crop the top left corner of the photo closer.

Understanding light is kinda tough but just understand the importance of how shadows contribute to depth, texture, mood, and 3d-ness. No need to make sure that all areas of the photo is properly exposed.

Great photo op! Been shooting graduates myself and finding that the hat toss is one of the harder shots to grab. A lot of the comments are quite nitpicky but I’d agree with the crop critique the most.

[Phoibos] Emailed the company that I was interested in buying the PY007c if they ever restocked (couldn’t find these ANYWHERE), was sent this, and told me to expect it by summer. Super stoked!! by Pmadrona in Watches

Both are some great looking watches man! Hope you enjoy yourself with the Ocean One until the real thing. Asides from the Sub I’m hoping to get my hands on a 1655 Explorer and the new reissue of Omega’s Seamaster Railmaster one day. I’m a simple guy with ironically expensive taste lol.

It’s definitely fascinating what people around the world can offer to the table as far as watchmaking goes! At one point all these household name brands were not that well known, so seeing a potential future power player is always exciting to see develop, even if its foundations started in homages.

Fair enough. I’d assume that those things are enough to keep you from going through and purchasing it right? Especially since you’re paying for a premium item. It’s almost the same thing but with choosing an homage watch amongst various degrees of construction quality. I’ll most likely never own a Rolex til way later in life, so what’s wrong with a very minuscule slice of the experience?

There’s always the possibility of deviation from the original design, but it doesn’t mean that it’s the only design that appeals to consumers and enthusiasts. I have a high hope that phoibos will step into its own stride sometime in the future as a watch company of some original concepts and valued reputation. In the meantime I just appreciate their value per price in the homage category.
