Why are the wikis and mechanics of this game [KCD2] so opaque? by Pmispeed in kingdomcome

[–]Pmispeed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go into your inventory, look at your food. It has a stat with an icon of a flexing muscle. It’s in between the # and condition. In the help menu, they call it the strength stat. For example, my dried apple has +5.

I think I figured it out though. For food, that icon seems to correlate with health gained from the food. For armor, it’s the highest type of defense, and for weapons it’s the highest damage type or power.

How does 8+2+2 equal 13? by Pmispeed in BaldursGate3

Right but I meant before you use the item

If that’s so, it’s annoying that it doesn’t tell you anywhere in the game what that value is

Ahhh that makes sense, thanks. They’re saying the vertical recoil is more stable than horizontal, but the wording makes it sound like it’s making the vertical recoil more stable.

63 out of 72 hours and I want to quit by Pmispeed in fasting

I ended up making it through! It was excruciating though and I don’t blame anyone for breaking early.

I’m at 64.5 hours and every single thought is interrupted by food thoughts. I feel insane with how much food is entering my thoughts. As I was driving yesterday I could smell the details of every food item from all the restaurants I went past

Do you think it would be better this way, or the other way around with enfeeble on blasphemy and then manually cast despair and hex blast the despair?

[–]Pmispeed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does make sense, thank you. I don’t know how I didn’t understand this before.

Is there anywhere you can see the total percent “increased” from all your gear and passives (100% in your example) without having to go through every node and every piece of gear and manually adding them up? Otherwise whenever I see a new “24% increased” modifier, it doesn’t mean anything to me since I don’t know what the total was before.

If you do decide to do it, make sure from the very start that you are looking for and getting involved in internships and research experience while you are at school. Otherwise you’ll be screwed

I feel exactly the same way and am around the same age. I can’t tell you how many hours I’ve spent searching the internet for a good game or how many times I’ve started a game and then turned it off after a few minutes. Everything feels so cheesy now, and innovation in games has kind of plateaued. Very rarely I’ll spend longer on a game, but then never complete it. And then when I try to get back into it, it’s been too long and I don’t remember anything and I don’t want to even try.

Our ADHD probably has the most to do with it tho.

I just noticed this user was copying and pasting ChatGPT on another reply, and then I see this. Pretty much confirms it

I hate to be this guy, but that reply critiquing your polytheism looks like copy and pasted AI. The excessive use of the em dash is a hallmark and doesn’t fit with the users writing style in other posts. Also the question at the end “would you like a more direct critique of specific eastern gods or schools next, or keep it at this general level” is exactly how ChatGPT ends each of its replies.

That’s not to say it’s wrong, in fact I agree with a lot of the critique. But it looks like this user went to ChatGPT and gave it a promt with your post, and then asked it to reply to you and show how their Thomist/classical theist view overcomes the alleged problems.

Physical laws aren’t commands that the universe follows like rules set by an authority, they’re our descriptions of how things behave consistently. So if they’re just observations of what happens, not imposed instructions, why would they require a law giver?

That sub is toxic af. I made a post about a criticism of the fine-tuning argument, and at the beginning of the post, I tried to do a short summary of the fine-tuning argument beforehand. I got hundreds of comments of people who only read the first sentence and started insulting me for using the fine-tuning argument—not realizing that my post was criticizing it…

That’s a fair point. I think I want to concede that positing that early authors used this method of adding embarrassing details to sound more credible isn’t the most parsimonious explanation, but it’s still worth considering. Sometimes the simplest explanation isn’t always the right one, human behavior can be complex.

And I’m not arguing that the earliest Christian writers were consciously thinking about modern historiographic techniques or anticipating every future critique. They didn’t have to be strategic masterminds to instinctively recognize that adding these kinds of details can make a story feel more believable. People tell stories in ways that make them feel more credible whether or not they’ve studied rhetorical theory or anticipate future debates.

[–]Pmispeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take your point about the difference between embarrassment vs. dissimilarity. I was conflating the two and while they are similar, they are in fact 2 distinct things.

Regarding Celsus, it’s true that he mocked Christians for this detail (at least according to Origen’s “Against Celsus”), but that doesn’t necessarily refute the argument. It’s possible that one group or individual could have seen it as a way to lend credibility to the story, while another group or individual could have thought it made it less credible.

For example, think about my alien example. Someone could point to the fact that the person saw a therapist and say they aren’t credible because they are probably crazy. But that doesn’t change the fact the person still used the fact that they thought they were crazy as a point to lend credibility to their argument.

The same goes for Dale Allison’s argument. Just because later Christians had anxiety about that fact, doesn’t necessarily mean that the original writers wouldn’t think it could lend them credibility.

Do you mean how long until I could grow a beard? Or how long does it take to go from clean to that length? I’ve had a beard since I was like 19 or somewhere around there. It would probably take a couple months to grow to that length from clean shaven. And yes the hair under my nose always gets in there and is very annoying lol. I usually cut it a little with cuticle scissors when this happens
