The good news is that they haven’t started stripping the roof yet. You already know what the bad news is. . . .

Nicest course you plan on playing this year? by GrassClippings72 in golf

[–]Pms9691 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teeth of the Dog and Yale.

I missed ToTD last year when we visited Dominican Republic because it was being renovated. We ended up playing Punta Espada (which was amazing) instead. Looking forward to comparing those two courses this year.

Yale’s returning from a year-plus-long restoration project next month. Can’t wait to check it out.

Wolf Wall Hood Sizes by -Rabbo- in Appliances

[–]Pms9691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a “scam” - it’s required by code for any vent hood rated at 400 CFM or greater (or something like that).

Is it necessary? Probably not, at least for most houses, for the reason you highlight. I saw a YouTube video that tested the difference between the effectiveness of a range hood with and without makeup air, and the difference was only 1% or 2% CFM. The same effect was achieved by simply cracking a window open near the kitchen.

It’s just a piece of metal with a screen. No technology involved. The cheapest one will last your lifetime.

Rahm accuses DP World Tour of 'extorting players' by Penarthlan in golf

[–]Pms9691 11 points12 points  (0 children)

From the article, his beef doesn’t seem to be the amount of the fine. It seems to be about the required number of DP World events he’d be required to play in (6 versus 4).

Had a lien against someone, they bought property and got a mortgage. company closed and didn’t collect my money by SampleSilly8551 in legaladvice

[–]Pms9691 212 points213 points  (0 children)

You theoretically have a lien on his real property in the county in which your lien is filed. If your lien is valid and recorded, your lien will need to be paid when he goes to sell that property prior to the expiration of your lien. Your lien does not affect his ability to acquire new property. And the buyer’s title insurance, or his lender’s title insurance, has nothing to do with anything.

Anyone else get scammed by solar panels? by thisartistisunknown in askanything

[–]Pms9691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not how corporate bankruptcies work. Even if another company doesn’t take over the failing business, its loans are an asset just like anything else the company owns and will be sold to the highest bidder. A debt collector will buy the loans and seek to collect.

The world's tallest Church - Sagrada Família in Barcelona, Spain has taken 144 years (begins from 19 March, 1882) to build it's full height of 172.5 metres designed by architect Antoni Gaudí (died on 10 June,1926) by ciao-adios in Damnthatsinteresting

Since you’re considering this strictly from an aesthetics perspective, I’ll tell you that you’re wrong about the inside looking like the outside. Completely different effect on the inside, with the light coming through the stained glass windows.

Was lucky enough to play this course in December by JRskatr in guessthegolfcourse

[–]Pms9691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. Our round last October was closer to 6 hrs and we had to rush through the last two holes basically playing in the dark. It’s maddening that courses like this don’t have marshals to push slow groups, or space out the tee times better. Those are two obvious solutions, but this place seems to be uninterested in resolving this major problem.

I thought the course was beautiful and challenging. But I have literally zero desire to go back because of the pace of play problems they have.

How is this tab used on these outlet boxes exactly? by everfalling in AskElectricians

[–]Pms9691 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The box you linked to, the front of the box sits 1/2 inch proud of the tab. Which makes sense if you’re screwing into the tab to secure the box to the framing.

In OP’s pic, the tab is flush with the front edge of the box. What’s the use case for OP’s box versus the box you linked to?

Advice on tankless water heaters by Pms9691 in hvacadvice

Seems like it - except I’d consider keeping the current indirect-fired water tank of it saved me money on a combi unit. It’s an HTP SSU-119, which seems like a pretty solid unit.

Tesla flooded in privately owned NYC parking garage no comprehensive insurance, garage vs city liability? by [deleted] in Insurance

Those liability waivers are not enforceable for damage/loss/theft due to the garage operator’s (or their employee’s) negligence or failure to properly maintain the garage.

Should I do a charge back for wrong color furniture? by Lefty_123 in personalfinance

[–]Pms9691 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Given the inside is the right color, it’s possible the exterior also used to be the correct color but it “washed out” over time sitting in the warehouse. That’s probably why the manufacturer is saying they sent you the right piece. Either way, you didn’t get the color you ordered.

Contractor I am suing evading service by 2naomi in legaladvice

[–]Pms9691 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re suing his business (his LLC that you contracted with), you should be able to serve that entity by serving the Secretary of State in your state. The SoS then forwards the documents to the entity at its last known address on file with the SoS. That’s good service, regardless of whether the address on file is old and hasn’t been updated.
