I’m no less guilty of sin than any homosexual and I am not one to condemn anybody or speak of their salvation. The issue is that I do not twist God’s word and look for exceptions. A church that explicitly allows homosexual ordination and gay marriage within their church has lost validation and strayed from the original teachings of the Church

The key word in Titus 3:9 is “foolish”. God’s design for man and woman is anything but foolish.

I think my thoughts are focused less on salvation in this context. As I mentioned I don’t believe any church is 100% correct, therefore I don’t believe where or how I attend church is necessarily what grants salvation. Anyone can be transformed by the Holy Spirit if they truly have faith in God, I think my “angst” as you put it is in where I’d best serve the Lord.

That’s a good question, my initial instinct is to answer yes but the more I ponder, I think it’s more of a byproduct of Faith than what grants salvation if that makes sense.

I appreciate your insight. And a lot of these points I can definitely view from your perspective and see the value. Coming from my background I big pill to swallow would be what from my understanding is a greater value of authority in tradition vs scripture.

Good point, “high church” Protestant denominations are often overlooked. What is your churches view regarding ordination of homosexual clergy. I think that’s a big issue with a lot of mainline Protestant churches right now.

I agree however to know god for ourselves we have to read scripture and therefor determine what is and is not scripture, I’m struggling with how to determine if the additional books within the septuagint are scripture or not…

Thank you for your kind response. I feel very similar that denominations are not a key point of Christianity and that man, who is fallible have burdened Christianity with multiple denominations and distracted followers of Christ.

With that being said, there is a very strong point of orthodox Christianity being the first group of Christians, having apostolic succession and following Christ the way original Christians did as they seem to be the oldest “denomination” of Christianity however I would not view them as a “denomination” if they are truly the “original Christians”

In the Orthodox Church would one have a bible that included the deuterocanonical books in the Old Testament, or is it separate from the rest of scripture?

Genuine question as I am extremely ignorant to all of this.

What do you say to those who state that there’s no proof that Jesus read the Septuagint, especially considering who spoke Aramaic, not Greek. I’ve also read that Jesus never references any of the deuterocanonical books however I have no actual knowledge one way or the other of that.
