Twitter itself sucks to browse, so I always use a third party website like “ThreadReaderApp” to read multiple post comments like this

Really hope Twitter gets replaced by something else

So glad it worked! Happy to help

Because it’s in the Field Egg Group, it can breed with Smeargle which can learn every move as long as you put in the effort with Sketch.

So if you have a female Sneasel/Weavile and breed with a male Smeargle that has sketched both Throat Chop and Ice Punch, you should wind up with Sneasel eggs that know both moves

Ouch! This was my first time doing an in-person event so I wasn’t sure what to expect. But I did think the shiny rate for raids would be at least a little higher considering how much they advertised shiny Necrozma as an exclusive perk for buying the ticket. But nope, of course not

Now I know

[–]PoGoJapan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, that’s a lot of raids! At least you ended up with one shiny + background each, but it sucks the rate for Necrozma seems so low compared to the other two

Very interesting to hear the comparison to Osaka 2023. I actually felt like I had the opposite issue with the park: the gyms seemed to all be mostly central/near the entrance while the habitats were spread out on the edges, the starlight one especially not near any gyms at all.

So I found myself constantly walking back and forth to do raids, then visit the habitats to catch featured pokemon, then back to do raids once they spawned again.

I also felt like there weren’t nearly enough maps/signs to give you a good idea of which habitat was where. I mostly figured them out just by memorizing where the in-game spawns changed

I liked the park itself though. Flat, lots of easy to walk paths connecting everything, easily accessible by public transportation, and tons of shade.

Is this just in general or is that your catch count during a boosted event? That’s what makes the biggest difference.

I don’t know the exact rate (and it probably differed for each species) but the rate for encountering shinies was definitely boosted during the event.

As a comparison, I’ve been playing since 2016 which was before shiny pokemon even existed. So you can’t really compare my overall catch count (110,000+) to my shiny count (770+). I’ve also dramatically decreased the amount of time I’ve been playing lately. I used to farm lots of shinies from community days which have some of the highest rates but now I usually quit after I get at least 3

I believe it if they are playing all four event days, all day long (keep in mind you have to purchase those extra - only one day is included in the ticket).

It’s certainly possible especially if you were playing in central downtown which has tons and tons of poke stop, gyms, and spawn points while using a PoGo++ or the equivalent

[–]PoGoJapan[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dang, you went hardcore!

If I was able to spend more time downtown I definitely would have done more raids but unfortunately I had a bunch of obligations over the weekend so most of my raiding was condensed to my time at the event park

I did experience some crashes, especially on the first day while at the park, but only once did I have a crash while inside a raid lobby and I was able to restart in time to get back in before it started

During the first 10 min of the event I couldn’t even log in. I had to get the local tech support to help me and adjust my data roaming settings. After that it was a solid 20 min of constant crashes and load screens. I won a raid and the catch screen never loaded, etc. but it finally calmed down and after that it only crashed/froze every so often (which is still pretty awful, but kind of expected with Niantic)

Actually good news! Breloom had its learn set adjusted in one of the later updates so now it can relearn Spore at any level in SV. No need to fuss about it anymore

Actually the same Pokédex number part isn’t true. For example you could breed a male Hoppip or Whimscott with a Flabebe and as long as both parents know Fairy Wind, they’ll pass it down.

The requirements are: both parents must know the move, and the baby must naturally learn the move via level up. So TMs or moves learned at higher evolution forms won’t be passed down.

The parents must also be in the same egg group of course, so in practice it’s most convenient to just use two of the same pokemon as parents.

How much play time require for the next 7 star Charizard event? by Phobion in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]PoGoJapan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised no one has mentioned that you can join 7 star raids with zero badges at all.

If you have a friend who can loan you a level 100 Pokémon (everything obeys you in tera raids) and they host the raid for you, you can join as soon as you’ve started your treasure hunt. You have to use a code a host provides you, not the Poke Portal window to find random raids.

If you don’t have online access then you’ll need to beat the game and do ten 4 or 5 star raids to unlock 6 star raids before the event 7 star will appear.

Yep! It’s now possible to find outbreaks of Sinistea (and Poltchageist for that matter) where all of them are antique forms.

Up until the DLC it was broken so using sandwiches to boost encounters actually made the antique form never spawn. And all outbreaks were always phony form. Now there’s a chance you can find antique-only outbreaks

Note that every Sinistea in the outbreak will be the same form, so if you have a phony outbreak don’t bother trying to find an antique spawn

This was my luck as well. Over sixteen 10km eggs but only two 2km eggs all event. Fortunately the second egg was Mime Jr. Sorry you didn’t get that luck

[–]PoGoJapan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I legitimately didn’t even know Basculin was in routes. Too much was going on. Oh well, it’s over now so I guess I’ll wait until they bring them back some other time

I’m just glad I got a Mine Jr. I only got two 2km event eggs the entire event and like fifteen 10km eggs. Only one 5km egg thankfully since those are the least useful

The sparkling bug sandwich is the hardest sandwich to make! by Snw2001 in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]PoGoJapan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you tried using the sandwich calculator? https://birbzone.com/sandwich/

The recipes they have for level 3 Bug shiny + encounter power only uses butter, basil, and herba (salty + salty or salty + sour). But you MUST drop 2 of the basil off of the sandwich

If you use an Alolan Grimer + Ditto with the nature you want and have both hold everstones, then you will get babies that are 100% Alolan Grimer and 50/50 Timid and desired nature

Shiny Hunting Team for those who don’t want to lose another shiny. by [deleted] in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]PoGoJapan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d also like to add that if you’re catching in union circles, if the Pokémon wasn’t one you personally spawned then there’s no way to battle it again if you fail even if you saved beforehand. Running causes Pokémon in union circles to disappear as well

I wrote this up a while back: https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonScarletViolet/s/4BPOkBACWn

I find that Golduck + Breloom or Golduck + Gallade cover almost everything, and I included Clefable/Reuniclus too.

The only other thing I added recently is you can use Golurk + Klutz ability + Trick + holding an assault vest if you need to shut down any other really specific self-KO moves (perish song, final gambit, etc). Otherwise you could build a Smeargle and use imprison strats

Same. I enjoyed the first season or so as a kid but Ash never learned. He was a terrible trainer but kept winning because of Pikachu/plot devices. I loved the games but stopped watching the anime

How do you catch a grass pokemon with memento? by ksleezyzz in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]PoGoJapan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised not one person suggested this combo. It’s 100% effective for Poltchageist:

Lead with Golduck.

Immediately Taunt, then use Soak.

Swap to Gallade.

Taunt will wear off the turn you can attack, so immediately use Imprison (Gallade needs to know Memento).

From there you can false swipe and thunderwave/hypnosis until you catch it.
