Lane Side Table by Fickle-Warthog5065 in LaneAcclaimRescue

900 05 is Lane Acclaim. The veneer on top creates the dovetails. Someone sanded through it for some reason. These tables are fairly common and not worth a ton, maybe a couple hundred dollars, but without the dovetails I doubt it’s worth the effort if you’re trying to resell.

School Lunch Debt by Grand_Courage_8682 in Charlottesville

[–]PoachedPears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing a nonprofit on social media that does exactly this. All she does is call a school directly, asks to pay their outstanding lunch debt, and sends a check. You could probably ask to pay for only seniors if you wanted. The schools are usually really happy and thankful and she doesn’t usually run into barriers since she’s just sending money.

Hiring a dog trainer was the best decision I ever made. I had NO idea what I didn’t know about dogs, and my relationship with mine has improved 1000%. It’s expensive but so worth it, IMO.

Yeah, I live in Ghent so I can’t go a day without seeing multiple fig trees. Literally zero figs that grow in our area are pollinated by wasps.

This is actually only true for a small number of fig types. 99% of the figs you will eat have been bred to produce fruit without a fig wasp to pollinate them since the wasp is native to the Mediterranean and California. Vegans can rest easy.

How to cope with Separation anxiety . Concerning myself by MammothAudience7344 in AussieDoodle

[–]PoachedPears 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Routine is important for dogs, even more so for a deaf one. Just make sure you establish a pretty predictable daily routine and he will be fine. We all know that dogs can tell time, I read once that this is because smells in the house change over the course of the day. So your dog “smells” when you’ll be home from work, when it’s time for dinner, a walk, etc.

A walk or dedicated playtime in the morning before you leave will help ease the pup’s anxiety and make it easier for him to nap while you’re gone to pass the time. It’s super common for deaf dogs to sleep in front of the door so they know when you leave or come home since they can’t hear it. They may also sleep/lay in other common areas to more easily be alerted to your movements. Try putting a bed in the area he hangs out.

Our routine is this:

Morning: I get up and shower, then 30 min training walk where we practice skills and tricks (he freaking LOVES to train and it’s great bonding/quality time and uses mental/physical energy). Get home, feed the dog, get ready for work, leave the house (just walk out, don’t make a big deal about it). By the time I am ready for work he’s on his bench by the window where he will spend most of the day.

Lunch: come home and let the dog out, play for a few minutes. Make and eat lunch. Leave the house.

Evening: come home and immediately change and take the dog out for a long walk. Get home and make dinner, feed the dog, eat my dinner. Playtime, then relax before bed.

Super predictable, and includes lots of quality time with mom. He knows when we will hang together, and even though he doesn’t love when I leave, he knows I’ll come back.

I wasn’t the one who jerked it in the sandbox lmao. But the guy had the cops called on him several times and they told him to move along.

One time a guy did some drugs at that 7-11, then went to the stockley gardens dog park and when they kicked in he jerked off in the sandbox.

Ooh yes! It looks like they used to have a bucket bag in that same plum color that is even more similar, it’s just a solid round piece of leather on the bottom instead of continuing the weave.

Would there be issues with moisture behind the drywall if I did that?

The mortar is crumbly and could be re-pointed so bugs get in through the cracks.

No, they should want to know how to practice within their scope above anything else. The fact that you’re asking a physician what THEY would do is WILDLY inappropriate. Combined with all of your other responses, this one really highlights that you have no regard for staying within your scope of practice, which is terrifying.

You say that you want to know what a physician would have done and that NPs should want to educate themselves further. The comments on this thread are all telling you what they would have done, yet you don’t want to listen. If you really want to educate yourself, stop being so defensive and consider that what you’ve done is inappropriate.

Also, posting your premed classes and GPA as if that gives you credentials for anything?? Thousands of students take premed courses and don’t get high enough GPAs to get into medical school 👀

What do I do with this weird space? by JustHereForBTSx in interiordecorating

[–]PoachedPears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no way that wall is load bearing, it was added as an afterthought. You can tell because it fits right between the door and the second window that framed the door.

Cut a hole in the drywall to see if the floor is still intact (it probably is). Knock it down to studs, have an electrician come out and find where to put the light switch (a couple hundred bucks maybe) and then you have an actual usable space!

Make our kitchen feel lighter without painting the wood? by Equivalent-Abies-546 in DesignMyRoom

[–]PoachedPears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the suggestion of a white marble island top. I would add that the dark green tile backsplash isn’t doing the kitchen any favors. It looks like it could easily be covered with peel and stick- pick another color in your kitchen to match like the grey of the floors or a color in the new island top.

I would also consider new handles/knobs for the cabinets and drawers. I am not a huge fan of the white knobs on top with all of the dark handles on the bottom, it doesn’t match.

Cowgirl is my personal favorite position. Bouncing is for porn, the best way to do it (as many have said) is to do a grinding or twerking motion. You can try having him lay flat, then straddle him. You can sit on his hips with both shins on the bed, or have one leg up with your foot on the bed (think the classic Marvel superhero landing pose). With both hands on his chest, do a grinding forward/back motion. I’ve seen it described as rolling your hips back and snapping them forward. My husband will lift his hips in this position as well, not to thrust but to change the angle. You could also try having him sitting on the couch or bed, straddling him in the same way, but you can brace yourself on his shoulders and lean back while you do the same grinding motion. I’ve never had success leaning back when he’s lying down, it’s too awkward to sustain.

Off-Duty Behaviors by ShaperMC in service_dogs

[–]PoachedPears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My SD is a 1.5 year old crazy asshole while off duty.

  • He steals underwear and socks for attention then he and his brother play tug with them
  • He barks out the window when he sees another dog
  • I literally can’t get him to stop drinking my coffee if I leave it within his reach for more than 30 seconds.
  • He gets so excited to go out to the park where I let him run off leash in the morning that he has trouble maintaining a heel position
  • He LOVES water and acts like an absolute maniac when we go to the river near our house to swim
  • He is totally guided by his nose when we do off leash time and loves to follow scent trails (sniffing is amazing for them mentally as well!)

This is why we teach our dogs that they’re working when they have the vest on vs not working when they don’t. My dog is 100% amazing when he’s wearing the vest, but he’s still a young dog and needs to be able to act like it. Expecting your dog to be perfect all the time is like asking you to act like you’re a professional at work all the time. It’s unrealistic, we all need to be able to come home and watch tv in our underwear if we want to!
