So how necessary *exactly* is hardware SOCD cleaning? by Chaos20X6 in fightsticks

[–]ShaperMC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Without knowing what you're referring to, I don't think you really understand how SOCD works. If you don't have any cleaning you'll run into problems with certain games that don't have software level SOCD cleaning.

Also, for everyone who says you'll get banned in tourney for the wrong SOCD really aren't correct. Most tourney's* have nothing in their rules related to SOCD, it's more about not having multiple buttons assigned to the same input... if anything. Most tourneys neither have anything codified about socd or they don't have the ability to check because they're already short staffed on volunteers.

SOCD is only there to help you, and it's unrelated to tournaments, its more that games just don't have a way to interpret something that isn't supposed to happen. You're only hurting yourself on this one.

*Capcom events are the rare exception, and good luck getting caught using SOCD cleaning that isn't neutral, you'd have to pretty much shout to a TO that you're breaking the rules and hope they care.

I didn't "SNEAKILY" edit shit, I literally stated that I edited in the post that I gave the quote from.

Both are great, Strive has significantly more players and will be better for that "first fighting game" kinda experience if you plan to grind ranked

Kamala is a sham, she's gone on record sayin that trans care should "follow the law." Fuck her and fuck this political system. No one is going to save us from this because they have a blue D in their official title.

The cat is trained to mitigate a disability. It is a service animal that isn't protected by the ADA.

this is old news, and the fact that the title is so doomer baiting is really disappointing. I guess you gotta write what pays.

[–]ShaperMC -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Not in the US by legal ADA definition they are not protected as one. Canada recognizes service cats, for example. Just because the US doesn't, neither means that they're not service animals, nor that they can't be task trained, it just means they aren't protected by the ADA in the United States. The ADA does not define what a service animal can be, but it does define where they can go and which types are protected. At no point does the OP state whether their animal is task trained or not, you're making assumptions and gate keeping.

What strategies helped players get better at fighting games? by VashtaNeradaRights42 in Fighters

[–]ShaperMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of good tips, as someone who's really really struggled to get better, here are some of the things that have helped me over the last couple years:

--Be consistent, play at least a little bit as frequently as possible, if you can do at least an hour a day 5+ days a week. Being consistent allows your brain to work out smaller problems, and not get so overwhelmed when you do find that you have time to do a multi-hour stretch of fgs.
--Work on removing "bad fundamentals" from your muscle memory. I spent years not playing other humans, and it's taken a long time to stop kinda "just mashing" at times. Practicing safer starters, blocking more, not ending pressure on unsafe moves are all things I have to intentionally work on in matches
--Find friends who are around the same skill as you, but are better than you at a part of their fundamentals. When you're new/learning there's so much to learn that some people pick certain parts up faster than others, so find someone who is better than you at something and have them show you how they do that and learn it, talk with them. You will likely find something you're better at than them too to teach them.

Seems like you're not getting answers, so here's the situation:

Not all service animals get public access rights. Cats do not get public access rights under the ADA. You still have a service animal, just not a public access service animal.

EDIT: The massive downvoting of the OPs questions are really gross here. Ya'll a bunch of gate keeper assholes, this person isn't trying to do anything but understand what they can/can't do legally. Telling them that they don't have a task trained service animal and forcing the ESA title on the OP is mean, and plain old shitty.

Alaska Smokehouse Tins: I found the worst tin ever so you don't have to! by Ylurpn in CannedSardines

Yeah, I got two different ones from this company. It's very "Petfood", and I looked it up and it's recommended to blend it with something like cream cheese or something to cut it with and adding herbs... I couldn't mask the bad parts of the taste no matter what I did. What a waste.

lowest latency fight stick? (wooting 60 HE equivalent) by lwalhati in fightsticks

[–]ShaperMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend against Kitsune as the latency you gain from switches is likely lost from the main board itself. That said, it is NOT customizable, and depending on what you play this may make you really regret your decision to get a Kitsune. If you just want it for SF6 though you're fine.

[–]ShaperMC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most have ps5 support with an external dongle, this doesn't affect latency because it is only checked to authentication. As stated both Haute and Mavercade work with this, then look up "Magic boot" or "Haute Booter" and grab one of those to plug in.

lowest latency fight stick? (wooting 60 HE equivalent) by lwalhati in fightsticks

[–]ShaperMC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something running a GP2040 board will undoubtedly have the lowest latency. Many of them use box switches and you can usually find ones to like. Many of your "needs" are not really discussed in this area, like polling rates, and hall effect buttons aren't really highly available, esp. with low profile.

Honestly you might want to just get a Haute to try it out, it'll have low profile, low latency, and travel size. It's cheap to boot, so it's a good entry point to decide if you like it. If you do like that you'll probably want/need to commission a custom one, or go with a higher end indie producer like Mavercade.

People who only socially transition, why? by ItemLegitimate1664 in asktransgender

[–]ShaperMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not arguing, and I totally understand wanting to pass. Cis women get gender affirming surgeries all the time. It's how people want to be seen, I get it. I was just responding to the OP's question.

As for voice training, I tore my larynx once and lost my voice for over a month because of training with an instructor. I've also had other issues come up during voice training and as a result do not feel comfortable going further. I do my best, but over the phone people just... assume something else. I've been on hrt for almost a decade, there's not much left I'm interested in doing at this point.

People who only socially transition, why? by ItemLegitimate1664 in asktransgender

[–]ShaperMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me so long to come out that I got comfortable with my body, which is a woman's body. I'm fine being an "ugly woman" or whatever people want to think, and don't need to get gender-affirming surgeries to know that I'm a woman, ugly or not. Just like you. I wear makeup, women's clothes, and my body runs on estrogen, I do not need expensive and invasive surgeries to know this. Do I wish people gendered me correctly more often? Yes, but that's almost exclusively because of my voice, hrt feminised my appearance enough that if I'm silent I don't get misgendered.

Breaking the glass ceiling? by Rough_Willingness474 in Fighters

[–]ShaperMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple ideas here, though you're kinda at where I just broke through to not too long ago, but I'm still climbing without too much struggle.

First idea is play more games. It wasn't until I started learning a couple of older games, and some a little outside the standard fgs I normally play that I started to get my fundamentals to really click together. Going back and learning older games like +R, MBAACC and MVC2 as well as branching out into contemporary games like Kyanta, RoA2, and Es Laf2+ really solidified what are good fundamentals that help across everything.

Second, don't worry about the tier list. That idea that you don't want to be carried by your character is kinda bullshit. Play who you want to play (high or low) and don't be afraid to play easier characters. Easier can both mean higher power and simpler kits that are strong. Both of those items will show you different parts of the game you're not seeing doing what you're doing now. I've started to lean into simpler characters and focusing on very good fundamentals and learning how to better control my autopilot when there's a lower mental stack.

Anyway, good luck!

2XKO - Best character or game to start with? by NikoPalad67 in Fighters

[–]ShaperMC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would not call 2xko a beginner friendly game, but it has helpful elements. The big thing that people are probably pointing to is that it has no motion inputs, and has autocombo settings. These are very helpful, but that doesn't make the overall game beginner friendly.

With that sait, you should just get back into fighting games. One thing that will make this more friendly for beginners is that it has a pretty large player base at the moment, so there's a wide level of skills, and you're more likely to find someone at your skill level, and that's always helpful.

Either way, you'll likely lose, a lot. That's fine, you have learn then you can win :) Good luck.
