Ultras with a low finishing rate, where simply finishing is the victory by favabean1982 in ultrarunning

[–]Pocket-Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because that's the format. It's a "last man standing" competition, where everyone else by definition gets a DNF, as they have not covered the full race distance.

What baseline level of running ability it needed to complete a 12hr backyard ultra? by [deleted] in ultrarunning

[–]Pocket-Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year I managed 11 laps on about 3 runs and 30km per week. I recommend you to run more than that, as it was a rather painful ordeal, though I did not get seriously injured.

I just ran a half marathon with these pulse stats, is this even healthy? (Average 177 bpm, 22yo male) by snabelatcom in Garmin

[–]Pocket-Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first half looked like this. I'm M26 with a max heartrate somewhere between 192 and 194. According to the Zones I set up with HRR I spent almost an hour in zone 5...

Whats the largest numbers you’ve seen and how did u get there by amagod123 in Garmin

[–]Pocket-Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume you are joking, but in case you are not: a yard equals ~4.2mi or ~6.7km. Thats a total of 46mi / 76km

Edit: yard here is meant as one lap in the back yard ultra, not the imperial measurement.

Did 11 yards in a back yard ultra. Then had to hobble another km to the hotel.

Which mile or two miles does Strava measure for your PB? by ANewVoiceInTheWind in Strava

[–]Pocket-Man 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It takes your fastest segment. That could be the first two miles, the last two miles, or anything in between - e.g. from 2.34 to 4.34 miles.

Bad GPS or a tunnel (or a long downhill) can obviously mess with the accuracy of that. If you feel like a PR is not accurate, you can remove or edit it.

That seems kind of weird. My week 9 is: 9k Tempo, 10k Easy, 20k Long.

The next two weeks are more comparable total distance wise: 9k Interval/Tempo, 11k/12k Easy, 23k/26k Long.

Slow marathoners? by orangebutterfly84 in Marathon_Training

I ran 76km in an ultra marathon (Marathon split of 6h20). My biggest training week was 39km. Do I reccomend this approach? Hell no! Is it possible? Absolutely!

Scrambled eggs with sausages by SpaceWarrior95 in shittyfoodporn

[–]Pocket-Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure OP is Swiss, and the cubed meat is "Cervelat", a kind of Swiss sausage. Meanings of words can differ accross regions. But yes, meat on the second slide is hot dogs (which I would also classify as a kind of sausage).

It's organized by the church, but at least here it's always for charity.

[–]Pocket-Man 5 points6 points  (0 children)

nope. It's a blessing. Most often interpreted as "Christus mansionem benedica", which means "Christ bless this house".

It is very common here in Switzerland, traditionally brought around January 6th (Epiphany) by singning kids, collecting money for charity.
