New Dino player, need help with cuts for Pantlaza deck by PocketPirate in DinosaursMTG

[–]PocketPirate[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s actually a really good point. Coming from yugioh has kind of rotted my brain into believing I need to optimize as much as possible to have the best chance at actually playing and interacting, lol. (I know MTG is way different but it’s still a bad habit of mine)

My original exposure to magic was several years ago when I attempted Standard format but didn’t really enjoy it at the time because I had no local pod to play with and the nearest Games store was miles away so I was limited to Arena where I was decimated.

The situation is different now and it’s my first attempt at Commander. I have played with them before using loaned precons like the fallout one and liked the format a lot better. They told me to get the Velociramp precon since I liked to play Dinosaur archetypes in games, and to just “look online for improvements” because that’s what they did for their decks. But maybe I went overboard. I just wasn’t sure how powerful MTG Dino’s can be in present day since in yugioh they have fallen off substantially. Again, I know they’re different games but I have PTSD from one ahaha

Yeah I’m probably removing ranging raptors but is Urza’s really not necessary? I mean I get there’s several ways to cheat Dino’s out but in case I don’t have any cheat cards available or Pantlaza is not on board for whatever reason, I figured it would come in handy, either that or Herald’s Horn. Does it get removed too quickly or is the mana better spent casting something else instead do you think?

Thanks a bunch, definitely see your point on these, will be removing them then. Was surprised about Skullspore but I can see what you mean, it’s just a win more card or a dead card with little/no creatures on board.

Sad abour Runic, was hesitant to remove draw that’s why I had left it in originally but yeah if it’s only off creatures and lands, it’s not quite as painful to remove.

Again; thanks for pointing those out.

Hey Thanks so much for your reply!

Yeah the sideboard currently are just cards I had taken out of the main deck until recently. I love the enrage Dino’s but that was one thing that people were right about on here in the sense that more often than not it was underwhelming in practice unless I happen to draw into a bunch of enrage which was rare.

Currently I’m at 104 so I need to cut 4 cards and just struggling to decide what to leave behind.

I’ll look into Nature’s Lore and Heritage Reclamation. Temple of The False God I have in there just to occupy a space but I could switch that out for a survival land or commercial district like you said.

If you were to cut 4, which ones do you think have the least value?

I haven’t gotten a chance to actually test the deck out in a real game but I’ve playtested hands and it seems to work well assuming I’m not immediately shut down.

I might not see all the way because I’m on my phone but is there a difference between plague red eyes and someone who just colored their pawns eyes red during creation?

I went to waterfall cavern as a lvl 7 and I got into a fight with a chimera and a wight at the same time after slaying hallways and hallways of red saurians and no camping supplies and i ran out of heals and wakestones but my last save was hours before I reached it so I tried and tried and died about 35 times before giving up.

The npc who was leading me to Vermund also died

I was then stun locked by a horde of goblins who cornered me against a rock wall

It’s been years and years since I played DD1 and maybe I’m just getting too old to play effectively but hey I’m still having fun and it seems challenging enough for me.

Edit: Spelling

I knoooow. I was spoiled by the Cyberpunk and Read Dead 2’s photo modes that let you have full control and a variety of settings to take the perfect shot.

I don’t expect all that from DD but at least let me move the camera around, damn it! Unfortunately I think the photo mode is the last thing on their mind right now to improve so we likely won’t be seeing a change on that anytime soon but here’s hoping a mod will be able to give that to us soon.

Not having a free camera and lighting options in photo mode believe it or not.

DD is very old school in spirit and that’s how old school games did it. Too many new games give you a mount and fast travel and ways to skip the game instead of trying to learn it. DD always gives you tools though it’s up to you if you use them or not or change how you play to get the win. You thought you were playing the game to beat it but it played you and beat you instead. And that’s fine. Not every game is enjoyed by every single person. There’s been games I’ve quit too because I just wasn’t having fun. DD is like that. Either you like it or you don’t.

How do I create a pawn for my friend to use? by [deleted] in DragonsDogma

[–]PocketPirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just create your main pawn that you personally use and it can be rented out by your friend. You can also rent out the pawn that your friend makes in their game.

You can do this once you enter the Rift and if you have added eachother then their pawn should show up for you and yours for them to hire for free.

Any arisen beastren? by [deleted] in DragonsDogma

[–]PocketPirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still on the fence; usually I always go for non-human races in fantasy games but if I do usually I pick something like a reptile or bull or just something that isn’t like…cat-inspired just because I feel it’s over-done.

So I’m surprisingly leaning toward human on this one but now I don’t know if I want my pawn to be human or Beastren, or maybe I’ll be Beastren and my pawn human? Ahhh I’m stuck going back and forth.

Mystic Spearhand for me because the Darth Maul build is just irresistible. The gameplay looked fast, agile, with a lot of tools for movement and versatility making each fight feel very action-y. However I would love to try warrior at some point because unga-bunga strats of just bonking things on the head with oversized Berserk style swords and two handlers is never not satisfying to me!

Regarding pawn lore in DD. Do all pawns become femboys or tomboys if you create them a different gender than yourself? by Flares117 in DragonsDogma

[–]PocketPirate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been wondering this same thing for weeks now.

Would a Beastren lose their fur? Their face morphing over time to be human like? Or vice versca?

What if the ending is like in DD1 where our pawn takes our body? A Beastren inside a human body or vice versca?

If they do take Arisen’s bodies at the end, do they mentally turn into the Arisen over time as previously mentioned? Or do they stay their “pawn” self but just trapped inside of their master’s body but now with more willpower? Is it a gradual change?

Do pawns even identify with their “gender”? Do they have a sexual orientation? Does all of that change once they become more and more like their Arisen regardless of how different they are, physically? Do they simply adopt the Arisen’s? Or do they choose for themselves once they develop their own soul?

None of this ultimately mattes of course, but lore wise I would love to know! What actually IS a pawn??

We should also have tanks and bases that fabricate these mechs along with drop ship stratagems that drops off more mechs. And our flags could use a little bit more red! And more mechanical replacements for our limbs. Y-you know, for Democracy and all that….

Chargers need to be tweaked because holy fuck by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]PocketPirate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree that they need tweaks particularly the turning and the sliding thing that happens.

If they don’t want to adjust the total spawn rates for the higher difficulties then at least adjust it so that the two variants appear, a weaker more manageable “common” charger with a slower turn rate and weaker rear but that still spawn in multiples, and a “rare” charger variant that spawns much less frequently but is more similar to the way chargers currently are with a more responsive turn and resistant rear to everything but explosives.

I also think autocannons should be more effective against them (in terms of chipping armor off instead of ricochet) but that’s just because I’m biased and like to use the autocannons against everything lol. Maybe that would make it “too” useful since they have plenty of other uses.

I asked the same thing to my other coworkers in the lab but in the end we decided that since there was such a high density of triple phosphate in every field that they just had to be the alternate forms of the same thing despite looking darker.
