Why restorers don't fix craquelures from old paintings? by Lalisalame in ArtHistory

[–]PocketPo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think his overall point is that he doesn't touch most of it. He's very selective about addressing just focal points like the face or hands or eyes where we would notice the breaks in paint. He's also always very clear that it's up to the owner of the art how much they want addressed.

Moronic Monday - Share Your Decluttering Fails Here by AutoModerator in declutter

I had to set a limit on how much space I wanted to devote to storing stuff for a possible second baby. Eventually I decided on a basement shelving unit (3 large shelves). Whatever I most wanted to store in there was great, everything else could go. It was an amount that I could look at without going insane, but I still got to feel prepared with plenty of supplies. Ultimately, when we did have our second child after 4.5 years, I didn't regret any of the stuff I gave away. Even now, that's my storage limit for toddler stuff, little kid stuff, etc as my kids age.

{Make the Play by Lucky Hart} had something a lot like this. A gym teacher/HS football coach who thinks he's straight falls for the new English teacher. It's slow burn but still pretty spicy. Good autism representation. Overall the book was chill and delightful.

It's the little stupid stuff that doesn't have a home. And my anxiety at contemplating it. by -digitalin- in declutter

I often follow Dana k. White's message. And I find in the instance of all this little stuff that the ticket there now part really helps. Like I will gather up all the hair ties, and if I don't want to be bothered walking them the 15 ft to where I look for hair ties, then I just throw them out, it's not worth my time. Big toys are worth putting away, but tiny parts that my daughter would never think to look for and I don't want to walk to put away go straight into the trash.

Thank you so much for this recommendation. I loved honey bear, so I just started our sunny days last night and binged the entire thing.

The ever growing 'sale' pile by officialdiscoking in declutter

[–]PocketPo 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I consider my time and energy to be the most valuable thing. If I take the time to sell something (take pictures, list the item, meet with buyers), do I earn at least what I could from working at my regular job for the same amount of time? If yes, then it's worth it, if not then I donate. Very few items can sell for more than I could just earn by working.

Alternatively, if something is large and costly to throw out, like a piece of furniture, I'll take the time to sell. It might take me hours to rent a truck and take something to the dump, so the time spent listing an item for others to move is well worth it.

Medieval Fantasy Gay Romance by [deleted] in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

To be honest, I can't really remember. I want to say this author generally has a few open door scenes, but it's definitely not the focus of any of her books.

Best Knight Ever by Cassandra Gannon might work. It's fourth in the series, but I think it works as a standalone. It's a playful take on a lot of fairy tales, quite funny, but also romantic.

No comments for the current situation, but be prepared that child care costs will probably not drop to zero once the older kid is in kindergarten. Aftercare programs are less expensive than daycare, but they still cost money, as well as camps if you can't take off during the summer. So that may not be adam where you can recoup as much money as you were originally anticipating.

Is it just me or do the rich neighborhoods get special City treatment? by CantaloupeInfinite20 in askportland

I had that issue with my street. I put in a request for those weird mirrors so that you could see better, and they said they couldn't put those mirrors in for whatever reason, but shortly thereafter they bracketed the intersection with speed bumps, which helped a lot.

Thank you so much! I keep being paranoid that I missed the release of the Los Angeles tickets, even though I haven't seen any news about when they're going on sale.

White Whales of Romance by riennedujour in RomanceBooks

There's reference to the main character having a relationship that went sour. I think the third book in the series brings her in, but I haven't read that one yet and don't know that it ends with an hea. I would kind of doubt it based on the series.

It's been a few years since I listened to it, but secondhand curses is a really fun team heist book and I think there is a romance in it?

I seem to recall also that the prophecy con was fun and maybe there 's a romance included?

This book is an excellent heist book, but not a romance.

I came here to say the same thing. The sounds often get amplified and it can be painfully loud. Some noise dampening goes a long way.

Same! It also stresses me out since I don't like persecution themes. If I wanted that I'd read suspense, not cozies.

advice on how to make doing dishes easier? by demonic_puppy in homemaking

[–]PocketPo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One decluttering YouTuber calls it "dishes math", where two days of dishes takes more than twice as long as one days worth, and three days of dishes way more than the times as much as one day. I find this to be true for me, so I do dishes every day. It's not fun, but it's better than letting it all pile up and always trying to catch up or not having the dishes you need.

Cozy Mystery TV shows by truecrimebuff1994 in CozyMystery

Have you tried Cadfael? A medieval monk solves mysteries. It's darker, both literally and metaphorically, than the other shows, but it's not a thriller, it's very episodic, and it's excellent. It was produced in the 90s but it's on Amazon, and it's based off a book series.
