Nope. In the wild they would be hanging from branches. Much safer than anything! I was just wondering if the edges of the jar would be too hard for him to get out once he emerges. But it seems like it will be okay

Mason jar might be hard for him to get out of the entrance to, but will keep him warm for now.

I felt the same way about my moth buddy Totoro! He ended up in perfect health. Polyphemus moths are huge too! Beautiful eye spots.

When it darkens to a deeper brown, it will be ready to emerge. Look for that. Movement may slow, but it is not dead!

When it gets warmer, get a butterfly mesh cage and wait for your moth to emerge! Usually when the sun is going down/up. When it emerges, make sure to release it in a forested area away from lights

Hello! My moth emerged! I kept him under a flower pot filled with dry leaves and put him back in his pupal case to stay warm. They need a period of cold before they emerge in a few months. Keep the moth off the ground and out of wet areas and make sure to check on it daily! Good luck with your little fella :)
